As a single mom, Andi Eigenmann has learned to take on the responsibility of having a baby. In fact, she made it a point to pay for her doctor and hospital bills when she gave birth to baby Elli (Adrianna Gabrielli). “Yes, since nagwo-work na ako, I have my own money already. When I got pregnant, with everything that I needed to pay for, siyempre ako na yun. If I can pay for it, I did. And at times na parang wala akong pera, my mom would help me naman,” said Andi in an interview together with her mom Jaclyn Jose on Kris TV’s January 25 episode.
Apparently, it was Jaclyn who wanted her to fully experience what it means to be a parent. “Ang sa akin, pampa-boost din yun sa kanya. Talagang at a certain period of time, sabi ko sa kanya, ‘You have to save this for your panganganak.’ Kasi iba yung naibibigay sa ’yo kapag ikaw mismo yung buong nagbayad. Siyempre as a mommy, alam ko what she’s going to feel,” the veteran actress added.
Andi admitted that her mom still helps her with other expenses, only because she’s paying for her previous investments including a condo unit and a car. “I’m not yet back at work so siya muna lahat, pero babayaran ko naman siya. ‘di ko naman siya pababayaan. Kasi I embraced my situation and I took on the responsibility. So siyempre I prepared myself along with that na dapat ako na lahat, wala na akong hihingiin sa mommy ko.”
Looking back on what she went through, Andi said that she’s fortunate to have parents who didn’t condemn her for having a child out of wedlock. “That’s why I’m always happy, I’m such a positive thinker amidst all the problems. It’s because my mom taught me that no matter what happens, you take on everything positively and with a smile on your face. There's no way people would be able to step on you, there's no way you will feel bad. Because wala namang reason para isipin mo na magiging miserable ang buhay mo dahil lang sa isang pagkakamali.”
