Janice de Belen recently signed a two-year contract with ABS-CBN, although she had started doing the teleserye Budoy since last year. She revealed that she is slated to do a talk show and a movie under Star Cinema and that she is excited about these two new projects. “Sa sobrang excitement ninenerbyos din, and I can promise to give everything I can every time I go to work. The minute na nasa set ako, all out ako. Lahat ng makukuha mo sa akin, totoong-totoo,” she said.
The talk show will supposedly replace an entertainment talk show and her co-host is another returning Kapamilya, Carmina Villaroel. Janice refused to go into details, but said that the show will have a lot of heart.
Meantime, the actress is simply glad that her character in Budoy has been well-received. “One of the factors is because it is a fresh start. Sabi ko nga kay Direk Ruel Bayani I am in love with the show. Siguro kasi ‘yung character ko is something I am good at, which is being a mother, I have five kids. Dikit na dikit siya sa puso,” she related.
Janice continued that she has established a more personal relationship with her co-stars. “Sobrang mahal ko na ang mga taong katrabaho ko. I love Gerald (Anderson), I love everybody, ZsaZsa (Padilla) Tito Pip (Tirso Cruz III). Nakakasama ko na sila dati pa, pero dito sa Budoy, iba ang dynamics namin eh, [tsaka sina] Tita Barbara (Perez), Mylene (Dizon), Enrique (Gil). Everyday nagtu-tweet kami sa isa’t-isa, si Gerald and I, we text each other once in a while. Si Enrique din minsan lumalabas pa kami so they have become an extension of my family.”
As for matters of the heart, Janice suggested that she is more cautious now. “Alam mo, mahirap mag-umpisa uli ng relasyon, mahirap makibagay sa tao,” she explained. Besides, with her very hectic schedule, Janice said that she has no time to look for love. “Serious ‘yun, hindi arte ‘yon. I have no time. Atsaka ‘yung time na meron ako iuukol ko pa ba sa ibang tao ‘yon? Sa mga anak ko na ‘yon,” she reasoned out. “The truth is, I am really not there. I’m not in the dating mode because I am not ready to be in a relationship. To be in a relationship requires a lot of time, it requires to be there 100 percent emotionally, I can’t offer that, I can’t give that now.”
She continued that she does not mind if love comes along but she will not go out and look for it. “Kung dadating, dadating. Kahit galing ako sa ilalim ng bato ‘pag dumating, maaanod ang batong ‘yon para makita ako. Siguro deserve ko rin hindi ako ang mahanap, deserve ko rin na ako ang hanapin. I deserve it.”
Janice was asked again if she is willing to work with ex-husband John Estrada, who is also with ABS-CBN. She answered quickly, “I answered that question already when I first got back. I don’t see the need for John and I to work. Tama nang ganito na lang. Huwag na tayong mag-invite ng mga problemang hindi kinakailangan. Okay na kami.”
Since it is a new year, Janice was asked if she has already forgiven the people who have wronged her in the past. She answered that she already has and has become a better person in the process. However, she clarified, “But forgiveness is different from forgetting. May mga bagay na mapapatawad mo, pero may mga bagay na ‘di makakalimutan ‘di ba? Sa ating buhay dalawa lang naman ang natatandaan natin eh, ‘yung pinakamasama at pinakamaganda. Hindi natin natatandaan ang middle ground, but it comes in lapses. ‘Pag kinalimutan mo, hindi ka matututo. Dapat maalala mo para matuto ka whatever man ‘yung kelangan mong ayusin.”
