010212-er_main.jpgAfter his Metro Manila Film Fest entry The Manila Kingpin:The Asiong Salonga Story hauled in 11 awards, Laguna Governor E.R Ejercito admits he is quite happy with the recognition and appreciation his newest movie has garnered. “Ako’y natutuwa dahil maganda ang reviews, four stars at graded A by the Cinema Evaluation Board ang Asiong Salonga. Ito po ay quality film kaya nakaktuwa po at puwede ipagmalaki sa ibang bansa,” he shares.  In fact, the actor-turned-politician admits that he is already gearing up to enter it in film festivals abroad if possible. “Naka-schedule na po ang aming premiere night sa iba’t ibang lugar, sa L.A, sa New Jersey at Chicago at hopfeully sa iba’t ibang bansa pa,” he adds.

Despite the initial controversy caused by director Tikoy Aguiluz’s request to have his name officially removed from the Manila Kingpin’s credits, Governor Ejercito says he is still looking forward to working with Aguiluz on another movie next year. According to earlier reports by abscbnnews.com, Aguiluz requested for the removal of his name from the credits of Manila Kingpin: The Asiong Salonga Story, after the producers allegedly altered the movie without consulting him. This was soon followed by Aguiluz’s formal complaint against the producers of the film for violating of his intellectual property rights. “Unfortunately nag-request si Direk Tikoy na tanggalin ang kanyang pangalan. malamang siya ang manalong best director kasi maganda ang pelikula namin. ako’y nalulungkot dahil sa request niya tinanggal namin ang pangalan niya. pero I credit this film, kaya naging graded A ito ng Cinema Evaluation Board ay dahil kay direk Tikoy Aguiluz. he’s a brilliant director in the likes of Francis Ford Coppola, Oliver Stone at Quentin Tarantino. Magaling si Direk Tikoy.  Kakausapin si Direk Tikoy para maumpisahan na namin ang El Presidente by February,” he shares.

The upcoming film project, El Presidente, is going to be a biopic of former president Emilio Aguinaldo. Governor Ejercito has also reportedly tapped Robin Padilla to play the role of Andres Bonifacio in the epic film. Governor Ejercito also hopes his film will give his constituents even more reason to be happy in the coming year. “Bilang gobernador ng Laguna, sana marami tayong parangal na matanggap sa local administration at community development.  Talagang pinaghirapan namin ang aming pelikula, ito’y quality film. Natutuwa ako kasi ayon sa mga taga-pelikula na ito ay pinapalakpakan at punong-puno ang ating sinehan. quality film ang Asiong Salonga,” he admits.
