Toni Gonzaga says having a concert at Araneta Coliseum is a dream come true

091111-toni_main.jpgAfter releasing five chart-topping albums in the past years, Toni Gonzaga is now preparing for her first major concert, Toni at 10, to be held at the Araneta Coliseum on September 30. The singer-actress admitted that she is both excited and nervous at how the public will react to her anniversary concert. “Siyempre I’m expecting na sana maging mainit yung pagtanggap sa akin ng hindi lang sumusuporta but also yung mga Pinoy audience na tumatangkilik ng concert scene dito sa Pilipinas. Sana makapunta sila at masaksihan nila yung celebration ng aking ika-sampung taon sa industriya because this concert will not just be a show na kantahan, actually it’s more like a pelikula. Yung concert is going to be a journey and a story in itself so masaya yung konsepto nung show,” she explained.

Toni admitted that although she knew there was a concert being planned since late last year, she still had her doubts as to whether it would push through. “Before the year started, there were already talks about this. But I was thinking at the back of my mind, siguro hindi magma-materialize because it’s such an ambitious dream and masyadong ambitious yung proyektong yun para maisakatuparan and I’m just really thankful na June of this year, na-finalize na nila and they would make it happen. So yun, medyo nag-sink in sa akin na after that hanggang sa nagtuloy-tuloy na nga yung promo, kumuha na ng sponsors kaya nag-sink in na talaga,” she explained.

Toni said that it has always been a dream of hers to perform inside the Big Dome. Kasi ako, there was a time in my life na in my showbiz career, when I thought na maybe there’s some people na meant to do Araneta shows and siguro baka yung pangarap ko nung bata ako, baka iba yung plano sa akin ng Diyos. Then this happened, parang I was really overwhelmed and grateful na puwede pa rin pala mangyari kasi parang sa akin napaka-imposible talaga ito mangyari dati tapos nangyari siya ngayon. I’m just really thankful and right now I’m just really focusing on giving my audience the best show that they really deserve,” she stressed.

The 27-year-old Happy Yipee Yehey host admitted that with less than three weeks before the concert date, she and the production team behind Toni at 10 are hard at work rehearsing for the show. “Siyempre madaming preparations. Malaki yung preparasyon namin para dito,” she admitted.

Toni also couldn’t deny that she feels pressured to fill up a venue like the Araneta Coliseum. If God will permit.
