Mariel Rodriguez on a possible network transfer: 'Wala pa akong final answer'

091011-mariel-main.jpgIn an interview with ABS-CBN reporters last September 8, Mariel Rodriguez did not deny that she was having talks with TV5 for a possible network transfer for “security” reasons. But she was quick to say that she has also made known her career plans to ABS-CBN management, but has yet to give her final decision on this matter.

“Actually, there was an offer. I was offered by Kuya Willie (Revillame). I think everything is under negotiation. There is no definite answer right now. But I have spoken to the management of ABS-CBN. They know about my situation. Sabi ko nga very grateful ako sa dalawasa ABS-CBN at Kuya Willie—dahil naging household name naman ako dahil sa Wowowee nang dahil sa ABS-CBN. Sabi ko, it’s nothing personal, trabaho lang. I will always love ABS-CBN. I will always love Kuya Willie. So right now, wala pa talagang final decision pero hindi ko dine-deny na meron talagang nagaganap na pag-uusap.”

Mariel further explained that her main consideration is to secure her future especially since she currently has no contract with ABS-CBN. “I don’t have a contract at all. Thank you for bringing it up because I don’t have a contract. Kasi isa ‘yan sa mga rason kung bakit nagkakaroon ng negotiation. Kasi may mga projects na sa kasamaang palad hindi natutuloy, hindi na matutuloy pero napag-usapan. Pero siyempre because I love ABS-CBN, hindi naman ako humihingi ng kontrata. Dati per show, pero ngayon wala akong kontrata sa lahat [including Happy Yipee Yehey!].”

On the other hand, Mariel revealed that ABS-CBN has also given her options with regards to what she wants to do with her showbiz career. “Meron din naman [counter offer ang ABS-CBN], mabait naman sila. Kaya nga nung nag-meeting I kept telling them na, ‘Thank you, mahal ninyo ako at mahal na mahal ko din kayo.’

Asked about their reaction that she’s undergoing negotiations with a rival network, the actress-host further explained, “I think okay lang is not the right [words to describe their position] pero naiintindihan nila. Alam naman nila where I am coming from. I was very honest when I talked to them kasi hindi naman parang 'Ayoko na sa inyo!' Nothing like that. It’s just really business, work lang. Kasi siyempre si Robin (Padilla), yung kinikita niya, lahat ‘yan pinamimigay niya. In the future, kung magkakaroon kami ng anak [siyempre kailangan ko din isipin yun].”

Mariel also clarified that her husband Robin Padilla is not included with her ongoing negotiation with TV5. “Hindi ako makapagsalita para kay Robin kasi yung mga negotiation na nangyayari at nagagawa, about me lang. I cannot speak for him. Yung sa akin, of course napag-usapan namin ni Robin. And sabi naman niya kung saan better para sa akin work-wise. Siyempre lalo na now that I am already married, it’s really time to think of the future, kailangan ng security. Hindi katulad nung dalaga pa ako. So ngayon more on kailangan makapagipon para sa future.”
