Cherry Pie Picache says she has never heard Kim Chiu complain on the set of 'My Binondo Girl.'
Currently playing the role of Jean Sy, the scheming stepmother of Kim Chiu’s character in My Binondo Girl, Cherry Pie Picache admitted there’s nothing like working on a primetime show. “I missed it. I missed appearing in primetime. First nagpapasalamat ako
to be back pero namahinga rin ako eh
so ang tagal.
My last series was Noah
which was in January so I’m excited to come back. So that was about six months of resting. Excited ako tapos kontrabida pa yung
role ko dito
,” she shared with Push.com.ph
As one of the country’s top character actresses, Cherry Pie said she has no qualms about playing an anti-hero for a change. “Okay lang kasi mas maganda sa
soap kasi mapaglalaruan mo.
And to begin with, maganda talaga yung My Binondo Girl kasi may
mixture of Chinese and Filipino culture, so yun yung parang pinaka-aabangan dapat ng tao
. With the characters, kung paano nagkakaroon ng
conflict, makikita nila kung paano nagkakaroon ng problema at nagkakasundo
,” she added.
Cherry Pie said she is already used to working with Kim Chiu, who plays the lead role in the series. The veteran actress admires how much Kim has attained in showbiz. “Katulad ng dati, mahusay ang trabaho niya dito. Masayang masaya yung
set namin. Walang problema. Si
Kim, I’ve had the chance to work with her sa Tayong Dalawa
and ever since walang problema sa kanya
. She really works hard. And to this day, nakita niyo ang
growth and achievement niya
from Tayong Dalawa
to now in My Binondo Girl.
The one thing I’ve noticed with her is her feet stayed on the ground. Pareho pa rin siya. Kung gaano siya kabait
noon, ganun pa rin siya. Wala kang makikita na
attitude or ere. And she’s very patient. She works 24 hours and she would wait on the set for six hours pero wala kang maririnig na
complaints,” she told Push.com.ph.
As one of the more veteran members of the My Binondo Girl
cast, which also includes Ai-Ai De las Alas, Gina Pareño, and Ricardo Cepeda, Cherry Pie hopes the newer members of their cast will always keep in mind to be thankful for the opportunities given to them. “One thing I can advise the young actors, like with Jolo (Revilla), pero wala rin namang problema
to work with him, ganun din, mabait,
one thing I can advise with sila
Xian (Lim) and Laureen (Uy) since they’re [just] starting, I just hope that they will not take for granted all these blessings that’s given to them, these opportunities and chances. Kasi
at the end of the day, sana yung andidito sila
in six months, eight months, one year. Sana talagang tumagal sila
and for them to keep on honing their craft, because that’s the reason why they’re here. Tapos yung dapat
good attitude sila lagi
,” she stressed.
The voluptuous actress, who is also an endorser for a plus-size line of a local clothing company, admits she is proud of her physique, which she maintains without any surgical enhancements. “I’m trying to look good. Hindi naman
diet, I’m just trying to look good and to offer a different look for the viewers. Di ba maganda na nag-iiba iba ka ng
look eh, parang ganun. Siguro nanibago lang kayo kasi marami akong
. (laughs). Maybe the most important thing is for you to keep on exercising, eat healthy lalo na pagnagkaka-edad na, tapus yun,
inner peace. Dapat
all original yun siguro yung nagbibigay ng
glow’ di ba? Dapat sa loob.
I’m 41. I’m proud and happy to be 41,” she shared.
