Derek Ramsay is willing to undergo DNA tests to disprove paternity rumors

092511-derek_main.jpgAfter ABS-CBN News came out with a report that they had the marriage contract which proved that he was legally married in civil rites back in 2002, Derek Ramsay now faces another controversy stating that he is the father of an alleged love child. The Fil-Brit actor bravely told the media during the September 22 presscon for his upcoming movie No Other Woman that he has no reservations in taking a DNA test if that will clear all speculations regarding him in this issue. “I’m ready to do any DNA test. Ang dami ko ng intriga na damay ang anak. Sige. If anyone wants a DNA test, sige go,” he said.

Derek also dismissed rumors that he now has plans of switching to a different network. “I think you guys have gotten to know me in the five years that I’ve been in the industry. I will finish my responsibilities and I’m under contract with ABS-CBN until February so I’m not entertaining anything until my contract is done. Wala pa kaming napag-uusapan na magre-resign ako or renew with ABS-CBN. Wala rin kaming pinag-usapan na lilipat. I think we’ll find out in February,” he explained.

The 31-year-old actor said that even if there were negotiations going on, his decision would not be because of his alleged dismay that ABS-CBN News still aired the report despite his reported requests to stop the legal document from being made public. “Walang samaan ng loob. Kung nasaktan ako, hindi na ako nagtatampo. What they said na pinatanggal ko yun, no, never kong sinabi yun at never kong hiningi sa ABS-CBN yun. Nasaktan ako kasi ganun yung parang lumabas. So sabi ko bakit naman ganun. Dun ako nasaktan. I never told them to not put that out. Sabi ko, ‘Put it out and I’ll go in front of the camera, that’s fine.’ Pero after that iba na naman. That’s where I got hurt. Kasi after that it was all about si Derek parang nag-pa-power trip. I’ll never power trip,” he said.

In his movie No Other Woman which will premiere on September 28, Derek plays the role of Ram Escaler, a man torn between his perfect wife and an irresistible other woman. Derek said that the movie deals with complex issues like fidelity and seduction. “I haven’t been in this kind of situation but I can’t promise that that will never happen because that’s one of the things that you learn in this movie. Na it could just suddenly hit you from the blind side. I think we’re all afraid din to love. But yun nga, in the movie, I found who I thought was my perfect partner and then suddenly someone comes into my life and I found myself giving more love and sana, hindi mangyari sa akin ito, (laughs)” he admitted.

On his end, Derek said he does not know how he would react if he was being cheated on in a relationship. “Parang ayokong isipin yan eh. I don’t know what I would be capable of. Siguro the best thing to do is choose. Ask her to choose whether ako or yung isa. Mahirap yun eh kasi I wouldn’t know if I would be able to forgive after something like that. And if I do forgive, hindi mo makakalimutan eh. So if your really meant to forgive, dapat hindi mo na ma-bri-bring up yun for the relationship to work. Hindi ko alam kung magagawa ko,” he shared.
