During the media launch last August 24, Maria told reporters that she is dedicating her album to her Filipino fans. “I feel very blessed and grateful for all the support. I thank Star Records for putting up everything so fast. In just two weeks, I was able to make an album. It has always been my dream to have an album. I dedicate this album to my Filipino fans who have been very supportive of me since the very beginning.”

Early this year, Lady Gaga posted on her Twitter account that she was moved watching Maria’s video performance. The top-selling recording star then invited the young Pinay to perform with her on her Toronto concert. Maria went on the appear on The Ellen DeGeneres Show, Good Morning America, and even performed before British Royal couple Prince William and Kate Middleton.

Maria’s album contains seven tracks which include covers of “Born This Way,” “I’d Like To Teach The World To Sing,” “I Can’t Smile Without You,” and “You’re My Home” (the last of which is the theme song to the Star Cinema movie Way Back Home.) Maria said that it was a dream come true for her to perform on ASAP Rocks to promote the album. “We watch a lot of Filipino shows in Canada that’s why you can speak to me in Tagalog if you want. We love watching ASAP since I was a kid so when I got to sing there I couldn’t believe it. It was an amazing experience singing with Ate Sarah Geronimo and also meeting Martin Nievera.”

For her first time in the Philippines, Maria revealed that she had a great time meeting new people and going to Boracay. “I’m having an amazing time. The Filipinos are very nice and welcoming. I feel very grateful to come here. It had always been the dream of my family to come home. I enjoyed my time in Boracay. It was very beautiful. It was a great time for me and my family to be together. The people were very nice to us.”

Aside from singing, Maria said that she is also open to other opportunities particularly acting, like Charice’s stint in the hit US program Glee. “Hopefully one day I can take some workshops so I would be ready if there would be opportunities for me to try acting.”

Maria will be in the Philippines until September 8, and then she will fly back to Canada in time for the opening of school. She is scheduled to perform this August 28 at the SM Mall of Asia and on September 4 at the SM Megamall.
