Robin Padilla talks about his anniversary celebration with Mariel Rodriguez in Maldives

082511-robin_main.jpgRobin Padilla and Mariel Rodriguez marked their first wedding anniversary with a luxurious vacation at the Shangri-La Villingili Resort and Spa in Maldives. Set amidst sandy beaches and lush tropical foliage, Robin described the place as AN almost paradise which made it a perfect romantic escapade for him and Mariel. “Bukod sa magkulong sa kwarto (laughs)? Ang ginawa namin dun eh maglakad, magkwentuhan. Talagang babantayan namin ang sunrise at sunset. Yun ang gusto naming dalawa. Marami kaming pictures dun. Kaya lahat ng pwede kong gawin na sorpresa sa kanya, e ginawa ko sa abot ng aking makakaya,” he said in an interview with ABS-CBN reporters last August 23.

The dashing action star further shared how he surprised Mariel with a romantic dinner date by the beach with the help of the Filipino staff in the hotel. Nagmukha namang hanep talaga. Parang may art director dun.”

Another unforgettable experience for Robin was the part where he challenged Mariel to go biking around the island. Apparently, the actress-host avoids biking as much as possible due to a previous accident on the set of Ok Fine, Whatever! “Inaasar-asar ko siya. Sabi ko, ‘Di ka naman marunong magbisikleta. Ang sarap pa naman mag-biking.’ Sabi niya, ‘Hindi, marunong ako.’ So pagkatapos namin tignan yung sunrise, nag-biking kami. Talagang hirap na hirap siya. Pero napatunayan naman niya na kaya niya. Naikot namin yung buong isla. Parang panaginip, mga moments of love,” he fondly recalled.

If there’s anything he learned from their first year as a married couple, Robin told Push.com.ph that it’s important to keep the romance alive in any relationship. “Siguro kailangan ‘wag mawala yung panliligaw.
