080211-diether_main.jpgAside from being an accomplished actor, model, and endorser, Diether Ocampo is also very active in various charity programs directed towards helping the less-fortunate youth through his K.I.D.S. Foundation. He recently organized the 2nd Diether Ocampo Charity Golf Cup which aimed to raise funds for the benefit of Knowledge Channel and the Christian-Islam Library in Zamboanga.

He also shared his ongoing plan which started two years ago when he attended the Harvard Project for Asian and International Relations Conference at Harvard University in the US. “I want to put up a training center sa Bacoor.

In his dream of providing better opportunities for young people who can’t go to school, Diether got the help of good friend Bacoor Mayor Strike Revilla.

While he is getting help from a politician like Mayor Strike, is he also planning to approach President Noynoy Aquino since Diether is already close friends with Kris Aquino, the president’s youngest sister?

But the actor said he very much welcomes it if President Noynoy expresses desire to take part in his charity efforts.

Many are curious if Diether’s various civic works are in preparation for his dream in the future to run for public office. He revealed that he had been offered numerous times in the past to get into politics, but turned them all down. Pero sabi ko since friends naman kami, I can still contribute sa mga projects niya kahit behind-the-scene lang ako. Up to now ‘yun ang ginagawa ko. Marami pang dapat gawin dito at ayokong pabayaan ‘yun.”

Nevertheless, he said is not closing his doors on the possibility of getting into politics someday. For now, Diether’s number one love is showbiz.
