The three were given recognition by SM Cinema for their top-grossing film My Amnesia Girl last year. The movie, which was shown November of last year, earned P164 million nationwide and was screened in 230 SM Cinemas in over 40 branches across the country. For this feat, John Lloyd and Toni were crowned as SM Cinema’s Box Office King and Queen for 2010.

This is the third year straight that John Lloyd has bagged the award, but he was happier that for the first time he was able to personally accept the trophy from the management of SM Cinema. “First time kong nagawa ito. In the past two years ako rin ‘yung nabigyan nila ng award pero walang ganitong event. Sana lagi nang merong ganito. Hindi ko sinasabing ako lagi. Thank you very much sa lahat ng nanonood. Maraming salamat sa SM Cinema. Napakalaking tulong ng SM pero mas maraming tao ang makapanood ng pelikula namin. This award is for Star Cinema, to my Irene na si Toni Gonzaga, and to Direk Cathy.”

Meanwhile, this is Toni’s first time to be recognized by SM Cinema. She said this wouldn’t have been possible without the help of John Lloyd, Direk Cathy, and most especially the moviegoers. “Maraming salamat po sa SM Cinema kasi first time kong makatanggap ng ganitong parangal. Masarap pala ang pakiramdam. Thank you siyempre kay John Lloyd for helping me give my best in this movie. At siyempre kay Direk Cathy.”

Direk Cathy, who was also behind previous top-grossing films One More Chance, A Very Special Love, and You Changed My Life, said she finds a different kind of fulfillment whenever she is hailed as a Box Office Director. “Sabi ng teacher ko nung bata trophy ay isang piece of wood, glass, or metal. Binili lang ‘yan ng seven o ten judges so it doesn’t mean anything. But this award means so much kasi kayong mga tao ang nagbigay sa amin hindi lang seven o ten judges. Maraming salamat sa inyong lahat.”
