Lauren Young says she became a better actress because of Wenn Deramas

081111-lauren_main.jpgLauren Young told Push.com.ph that it’s no big deal if people would rather call Julia Montes as the next Claudine Barretto even though she was the one who reprised the Claudine’s role in Mula Sa Puso. As it is, she wants to make it in the biz without competing with other artists.  “I want to make a name for myself. It’s good na nakita nila na maaaring sumunod ako sa yapak ni Claudine since she's a very good artist. And even Julia, napakagaling niya, hangang-hanga ako sa batang ‘yan. Pero ayoko ma-compare kahit kanino. I just want to do my job.”

Now that Mula Sa Puso is drawing to a close, the 17-year-old shared that she will miss working with her co-stars who helped her become a better actress. “Sana makatrabaho ko ulit sila lalo na sila Direk Wenn (Deramas) and Eula (Valdez) kasi ang galing-galing nila. Ang dami kong natutunan dahil sa kanila. Direk Wenn taught me the value of humility and hard work. Natuto ako umiyak at mag-memorize ng lines on the spot. I owe it to him kung ano man ang narating ko ngayon sa showbiz.”

Lauren was also happy that she became good friends with her leading men Enrique Gil and JM Rodriguez during the span of the show. “I’m very close to them. Mababait silang tao. They don’t take advantage of the fact na love team kami. They’re very professional. Wala pong na-develop in a romantic sense and I’d like to keep it that way.”

Although she still has no idea what her next project will be, Lauren is firm about avoiding sexy roles at this point in her career. “I’d like to stick to drama roles. I’m open sa lahat ng roles. Pero as of now, ayoko magpa-sexy. Hindi bagay sa age ko. I’m not closing my doors, but I’m still very young and I have a long way to go.”
