073111-k-la_main.jpgK-La Rivera was ecstatic when she won one of the slots as a VJ at the 2011 MYX VJ Search during the grand finals last July 27 at SM The Block. Although she previously competed in Star Power to be the next singing sensation, the pretty Fil-Canadian is determined to show everyone that she could be good in hosting as well. “I don’t think my singing career would take a backseat just because I’m now a MYX VJ. I will try to balance the two since I have time anyway. I only do ASAP twice a month. I want to improve on both fields. But for now, I want to try hosting. It’s a blessing and I’m going to give it my best shot,” said Kyla in an interview with Push.com.ph that same night.

K-La did not deny the fact that having a fan base from her stint in Star Power worked to her advantage. But more than anything else, she believed that her positive outlook and enthusiasm were the keys to her success this time around. “I never expected to win. During the competition, I just had fun all the time, I was just being myself and I just really love what I’m doing. Kasi I love music and I’m madaldal by nature. So when I found out about the search, I decided right away that I want to sign up.”

No doubt about it, K-La is making the most out of the opportunities coming her way. In fact, she’s also busy doing acting workshops together with her fellow Star Power finalists and other Star Magic artists. “Actually, I’m doing an acting workshop with director Ryan Carlos. At the same time, I am also taking up Tagalog lessons. I’d love to join showbiz if given the chance. I really admire Sarah Geronimo, Toni Gonzaga, Piolo Pascual, Sam Milby, and Gerald Anderson. Hopefully, I’d be able to work with them one day,” she added.
