Claudine Barretto reveals that she and her sister Gretchen made a pact never to let showbiz intrigues get the best of them again.
In a tell-all interview with StarStudio Magazine, Claudine Barretto broke her silence on the many issues concerning her private life, including her tear-jerking reconciliation with sister Gretchen Barretto last February. It happened at their mom’s condo where the two unexpectedly met after almost a year of estrangement. “My nephew told her I was there. Gretchen daw
simply said ‘I’m on my way.’ Soon she was at the door. I opened it. We hugged each other and wala, nag-iyakan na kami,
” she tearfully recalled.
Since then, the sisters have tried to catch up on lost time by spending time together through frequent dinners, malling, visiting spas, or simply attending a church service. “Now there’s not a day that we don’t talk—if we can’t meet—at least two times a day. I totally see her beauty now. Oh, how much she’s changed! That day at our mom’s condo, I felt she humbled herself, and humbled me as a result. She turned up, not sure if I would even look at her, or turn my back on her.”
Looking back, Claudine said that she couldn’t imagine how she allowed gossipmongers to affect her relationship with Gretchen. The cause of which was a seemingly harmless sibling rivalry, which later escalated into a full-blown spat due to the constant intrigues about them. “No matter how petty a problem is, kapag marami ang nagsusulsol, maraming iba-ibang naririnig…
next thing you know, it’s no longer petty.” She added that if there’s anything she learned from their previous tiff, it’s the fact that communication and keeping an open mind is important when overcoming trials in any relationship.
