Aiko Melendez says that she and Cristine Reyes have a lot of similarities

072111-aiko_main.jpgCurrently playing her first kontrabida role as Catherine Villamayor, the spurned widow and governor’s wife on the afternoon drama Reputasyon, Aiko Melendez said there has been absolutely no problem so far working with Cristine Reyes, younger sister of Ara Mina whom Aiko had a rift with a few years back. “Parang pareho kami. With Cristine, what you see is what you get. One thing I admire with Cristine is she’s very transparent eh. She’s like a sponge, na kunwari nakikita niya na kami nila Direk Laurice (Guillen) na siyempre mas nauna sa kanya, parang she’s very observant, titignan nya talaga tapos ina-absorb niya yun. I admire also with Cristine na makikita mo kapag hindi siya mahirap tantiyahin. Kasi alam mo kapag she’s not feeling well, she’s just quiet and then she will tell you that she’s not feeling well unlike yung mga iba na artista na plaplastikin ka, sho-showbizin ka na they’re fine pero pagkatalikod mo naman iba,” she shared.

Aiko said that whatever happened between her and Cristine’s older sister in the past is a closed book. “Actually that issue is passé already na I don’t even want to bring it up. Kasi parang everybody has moved on already. I have moved on. So parang there’s no room for that na dapat,” she added.

Aiko said that even before she accepted the project, there was not any issue anymore of whether to work with Cristine or not. “Actually, bago ko in-accept itong role, si Carmina Villaruel ang naging tulay sa amin. Kasi sabi ko na ayoko na pag-usapan yun kasi parang andami ng taong nakalipas. Parang ang pangit naman na ma-stuck kami ni Cristine dun. Looking back, parang napaka-ganda nitong proyekto na ito para lang pairalin ang isang issue na dapat matagal na namang natapos. And tinatapos na namin ito ngayon at sa mga sumusunod na araw. Dapat wala ngissue na ganun,” she explained.

Aiko admitted that she is even open to working with Ara Mina on a project if the opportunity presents itself someday. “If it’s a good project then why not ‘di ba? It’s high time na isarado na natin yung chapter na yun. I’m going to work with Jomari (Yllana) soon nga di ba? Bakit hindi na lang kaming tatlo para tapusin na ito ‘di ba? (laughs) Para one time big time. Ako I find it funny na lang ngayon kaya I don’t even want to elaborate on that issue,” she stressed.

The actress said she is also very happy to be part of the Kapamilya network again. “There’s no place like being a Kapamilya. Kasi yung unang show ko naman sa ABS-CBN, Dick and Carmi pa. Tapos yung huling show ko rin sa ABS-CBN. So parang hindi na ako ganun kailang na to step here kasi Kapamilya naman ako ever since,” she said.
