Jennylyn Mercado shares how she has been able to stay strong all these years

070311-jennelyn_main.jpgAlthough she has proven that she could learn to deal with life-changing situations like an unexpected pregnancy in 2008, Jennylyn Mercado admitted she had to deal with yet another challenge after her well-publicized breakup with Dennis Trillo. A promising relationship which allegedly ended in physical violence, Jen admitted she had to put on a brave front for the sake of her loved ones. “I’ve been keeping myself busy at work and at home para ‘di ko na lang maalala. Ang hirap mag-move on. So far I’m doing good. Ginagawa ko yung trabaho ko. Nagiging mas hands-on ako as a mom,” she shared in the July issue of StarStudio magazine.

The 24-year-old singer-actress, who lives with her adoptive mother Lydia and her three-year-old son Alex Jazz, said that she is thankful that her family has been there for her every step of the way.

Jen also admitted that she has also recently renewed her friendship with her son’s father, Patrick Garcia, whom she has allowed to visit their house on almost a daily basis nowadays. Makakatulong na maging normal ang family life niya,” she explained in SSM’s feature story.

When news broke out that she and Luis Manzano had started dating after training in the same self-defense classes, the public then found out about her longtime interest in martial arts.

Despite looking like a frail 5’3”, 110-pound woman, Jen immersed herself in jiujitsu, Muay Thai, and Mixed Martial arts, the latter which she eventually plans to be good enough to enter a competitive level. Sa MMA, nag-pre-prepare lang ako to compete though I really can’t say kung kalian,” she added.
