Christian Bautista says he prefers to prioritize work over having a girlfriend

060811-christian_main.jpgCurrently in Singapore where he will be undergoing training in preparation for the first Pan-Asian TV series The Kitchen Musical, Christian Bautista said he has no plans to pursue a love life right now, especially since he will be based abroad for the next four months. “I can’t have a girlfriend right now. I’m going to be gone for a while. Friends lang muna lahat. It’s going to be unfair for any girl. Like if I’m in Indonesia I get a girl tapos I go to the Philippines, then when I’m in the Philippines I get a girl tapos I got to leave naman for Singapore. Parang hindi naman yata maganda, unless mag-Skype to death kami. I wish I could do that but I just really want to be with her, alam mo yun. So tingnan na lang natin,” he shared.

The 29-year-old singer-actor admitted that he is not in any rush to get hitched and even cited one of his celebrity idols, Aga Muhlach, as an example. “There will come a time when things will slow down, I just don’t know when, I hope matagal pa. Pero when it does, that’s the time when I can focus on that na. Like si Aga, gaano katagal yung career niya bago siya nagpakasal? Matagal ‘di ba? Eh ganun eh ‘pag artista,” he added.

Christian admitted that right now, he would choose to prioritize his career over looking for a potential partner. “Wala pa nga eh. So baka matagal pa yun. We’ll never know. Kasi halimbawa, gusto ko na mag-settle tapos may million dollar project, eh siyempre uunahin ko muna yun. Sa ngayon habang single pa ako, go, go, go ako sa trabaho,” he explained.

Christian shared that he plans on getting married before he reaches 40 and sees no problem in having to wait that long. “Sorry na lang sa mga girls pero advantage naming mga lalake yan. We can get married later in life. But who knows, maybe it will happen earlier than that. We’ll never know, love moves in mysterious ways,” he mused. Christian, whose last relationship was with Rachelle Ann Go, said he is happy for his ex-girlfriend’s current relationship. “I’m very happy na masaya sila ni John Prats,” he said.

Christian also commented on doing his first music video with Kris Aquino, who requested for him to sing the carrier single in her newest album. “Ngayon lang talaga kami nagkatrabahao ng matagal, pero actually ang sarap niya katrabaho, puro kuwentuhan lang. Una nga medyo na-i-intimidate ako before kasi hindi ko pa talaga siya nakakasama ng matagal so nakikita ko lang siya sa ABS-CBN,” he shared.

Despite the fact that he will be working intensively with his The Kitchen Musical co-star Karylle for the next couple of months, Christian dispelled any chance of them developing feelings for each other, mainly because Karylle is already taken even if she has yet to go public with her relationship with Sponge Cola vocalist Yael Yuzon. “Ako naman close friend ko sila pareho, close friend ko si Yael at si Karylle at aminin na natin na merong something, hindi ko na lang iko-confirm kung ano man yun. Pero alam ko meron ngang mga, bibisita siya dun so hindi ko lang alam kung patay na, lagot na ako (laughs),” he said.

When asked if he was expecting any “special” friends to drop by in Singapore, Christian said matter-of-factly, “Wala eh. Walang bibisita sa akin. So gusto ko mag-focus sa trabaho ko ngayon.
