The Korean singer-actress is open to doing a movie here if there are offers.
After a brief vacation in the country early this year, wherein she kept a low profile in order to fully enjoy her short break, Sandara Park is happy to be back performing with her all-female group 2NE1 during their one night only concert called “The Party,” held at the Araneta Coliseum last June 4. Along with fellow 2NE1 members, Park Bom, CL and Minzy, Dara gamely answered questions from members of Philippine and Korean media at the 2NE1 presscon held at the Grand Ballroom of the Intercontinental Hotel in Makati City the same afternoon of their concert. The 26-year-old first entered the limelight when she joined ABS-CBN’s Star Circle Quest in 2004 where she emerged in second place. This was followed by a string of successful projects like her double Platinum award for her self-titled album which she released that same year and Star Cinema movies like Can This Be Love
and D’ Lucky Ones
Now, as part of one of the hottest girl groups in Korea, Dara couldn’t help but admit how happy she is to be back on familiar soil, after she was warmly welcomed by her fans after arriving at the NAIA airport last Friday, June 3. “Sobrang na-
miss ko sila pero natutuwa ako kasi andito pa rin sila. Medyo
nervous din ako dahil baka hindi na nila ako naalala,
” she admits during the presscon. Despite her slim frame, Dara also admits she misses eating her favorite Filipino dishes like sinigang, pakbet and sisig. She also told the press that she is quite open to doing a movie in the Philippines if there will be any offers, just as long as she is not busy working on her album.
The other members of the popular all-girl group admitted that Sandara misses the Philippines because she always tells them about the country. The former SCQ talent apparently shares the Filipino food sent to Korea her by friends with Minzy, CL and Bom, so they have already tasted Pinoy food even before coming to Manila. This is also the reason why they were excited to see and experience the country for themselves firsthand. 2NE1 leader CL aslo admitted that they would love to see more of the Philippines on their next visit as well as be able to perform and meet the 2NE1 fans in other cities like Cebu, Bacolod, and Leyte. For her final message, Dara excited her fans even more with a familiar statement. “Kamusta kayong lahat, si
Sandara ito ang pambansang krung-krung ng Pilipinas. Magkita-kita tayo
soon so i
-invite niyo naman kami!
” she says.
2NE1 performed 8 songs to a packed Araneta Coliseum, including their very first single “Fire” and “I Don’t Care.” Sandara also sang her trademark song “In or Out” from her first album which the crowd joyously sang with her. Present to cheer her on were her SCQ friends Melissa Ricks, Joross Gamboa, Joseph Bitangcol and RJ Martinez.
