Star Power finalist K-La Rivera hopes for another shot with the MYX VJ Search 2011.
“Never once was I sad,” K-La Rivera smiled when asked about losing to Angeline Quinto in the Star Power singing competition. K-La showed that life still goes on as she happily faced reporters as one of the finalists of the MYX VJ Search 2011.
K-La shared, “Gusto ko po talaga sumali
. Ever since I really wanted to try hosting. I don’t have much experience in it but I love music so much, and MYX is about music. Also madaldal talaga ako
so I figured this would be perfect for me.”
The Fil-Canadian lass earned legions of fans as a contestant in Sharon Cuneta’s Star Power. Since the competition has made her a familiar face among TV viewers, there are accusations that she is now the favorite to win as the next VJ of MYX music channel. However, K-La clarified that she played fair and square in earning her spot as a finalist.
“I went through the same process as everyone else. I submitted my application, I waited in line, and I auditioned. There are also other finalists who don’t have much background in hosting. But what I really want to get from this is the experience. I want to learn how to host, how to interview people.”
K-La added that for her, it’s not an assurance that because she is the more familiar face in this year’s MYX VJ Search she is a shoo-in winner. “If I have loyal fans na tuloy ‘yung pag suporta nila, siguro
in that sense I have an edge. But that’s not always the case. Not everyone watched Star Power
. There are still many people who are not familiar with me. But I’m lucky to already have people who know me from Star Power. I’m thankful to all of them.”
She wasn’t also shy to admit that not being fluent in Tagalog is currently her weakness in this competition, that’s why she is doing her best be more efficient in the language. “Nagaaral pa rin ako,
I still have my Tagalog lessons. I’m really trying my hardest. I hope people will be patient of me, ha ha ha!”
