Direk Joey Reyes on Toni and Eugene: 'They are box office demi-goddesses in their own right'

061011-direkjoey_main.jpgDirector-writer Jose Javier Reyes has just finished shooting a movie under Star Cinema entitled Wedding Tayo, Wedding Hindi. It’s a comedy that’s bent on questioning the sanctity of marriage and the possibility of getting divorce when things don’t work out between a couple.

Direk Joey (as he is fondly called by showbiz colleagues) further shared that Eugene and Tony are perfect for the roles because they both have a talent for comedy. But at the same time, he loves the fact that they have a different style of delivering their punch lines or acting out their comic scenes. She wasn’t an overnight sensation. She was a comedienne that was honed by years of experience on stage and on camera training. Si Toni naman is the type who got there and did her stuff. But one thing’s for sure, they're box office demi-goddesses in their own right.”

Although Star Cinema has yet to release teasers of Wedding Tayo, Wedding Hindi, Direk Joey was happy with Eugene and Toni’s comic tandem and their successful attempt at conveying the message of the movie. But this the first time I’ve had the chance to work with Toni as her director. It’s a lot of fun. But aside from having a great cast, I really enjoy working on movies that deal with human relationships. Kanya-kanyang forte ‘yan eh and I believe yun ang sa akin.”
