Aga Muhlach admits that 'In The Name of Love' is the hardest film he's ever made

In the movie, Aga plays the role of Emman Toledo, a former dancer whose life seems to have hit a wall until he crosses paths with Cedes Fernandez (Angel Locsin) at the Governor’s Ball where her formal engagement is announced to Dylan Evelino (Jake Cuenca, the Governor’s son and aspiring politician). But Emman and Cedes immediately feel a connection to each other that will change the course of their lives dramatically. “I love the role,” said Aga, who once played a similar role in the 1992 movie Sinungaling Mong Puso with Vilma Santos.

The 41-year-old actor also talked about how he enjoyed working with director Olivia Lamasan again. The two first worked together in the 1995 hit Sana Maulit Muli, which paired him with Lea Salonga. “With Inang Olive Lamasan, parati naming pinag-uusapan. We’d always talk about the film every time we’d see each other. ‘O Direk, kelan tayo magtrabaho ulit,’ ganyan. Nagbibiro siya ‘Eh ayaw mo naman sa akin eh,’ gumaganun siya. Sabi ko, ‘Hindi! Ikaw ang may ayaw sa akin!’ Finally nagtrabaho na kami ulit. When this movie was offered sa akin tapos with Olive there, and the story, sabi ko perfect talaga!” he said.

Aga admitted that even though it took a long time to finish the film, he considers it worth the effort when people see the finished product. “I accept this project not knowing na ito ang isang pelikulang sasabihin ko talaga na pinakamahirap kong ginawa, physically, emotionally, lahat because of the bigness of this film. It’s an Olivia Lamasan film. There’s no reason na ‘di niyo panoorin ito. One year in-the-making ito. It really was emotionally and physically draining,” he stressed.

In The Name of Love is also Aga’s tenth film for Star Cinema and he admitted that he feels lucky to be part of another momentous project. “I’ve done movies for Star Cinema na anniversary nila before. Ang sarap ng feeling mo kasi ine-entrust nila sa iyo yung pelikulang iyon. It makes you feel special also. Sa Star Cinema, ‘pag nag-a-anniversary sila at yung pelikula mo yung napipili para iyun ang ilabas sa publiko, it makes you feel special also,” he shared.

Currently being shown in more than 150 theaters nationwide, In The Name of Love also stars Carmi Martin, Dante Rivero, Emilio Garcia, Dimples Romana, Kat Alano, Michael Flores, Bobby Andrews, Joshua Zamora, Maliksi Morales, Nanding Josef, and Paul Salas.
