Randy Santiago defends 'Happy Yipee Yehey' against critics

051211-randy_main.jpgRandy Santiago was quick to comment on rumors that ABS-CBN noontime show Happy Yipee Yehey, which has been on air for almost three months now, is nearing cancellation due to poor ratings. Masaya ba kayo?” In addition to Randy’s statement, the Kapamilya network has denied any plans of canceling HYY.

At the moment, noontime shows in the Philippines are mostly criticized by several sectors for their game segments that tend to loosely give away money to poor contestants. This trend on TV is now being blamed by many as the reason why those from the poor sector have become lazy and merely dependent on winning easy cash rather than get a paying job or put up a small business.

Randy voiced out his thoughts on the matter. If you can still remember, twenty years ago wala naman masyadong namimigay ng pera sa TV.

He explained that ABS-CBN, through HYY and its other shows, just wants to extend some help to the less fortunate.

Randy noted two specific game segments on HYY, namely Pera o Bayong and One Time, Big Time, has specific mechanics before a particular player can win the cash prize.

Co-host Mariel Rodriguez also gave her opinion on the matter. “Nasa tao talaga.
