Star Power's Akiko Solon gets her first acting role in the upcoming series 'Atom'

041411-akiko_main.jpgAfter a successful stint on the talent show Star Power where she finished in the top five, Akiko Solon is ready to take on a different kind of challenge as she gets her first acting role in the upcoming Kapamilya fantasy series Atom. The 16-year-old aspiring singer admitted she was both excited and nervous when she first got the call to come in and audition for the role of Badette, friend of Atom, played by child actor Bugoy Carino. “Nung una pa lang talaga, nung auditions pa lang namin, sobrang kinakabahan ako. Pagdating dun sa mismong auditions na, three times akong pinaulit kasi parang kinakabahan talaga ako so hindi ko naman talaga inaasahan na talagang maging part ako dito so nagpapasalamat talaga ako na talagang binigyan ako ng chance na ganito. Ang magiging role ko dito is Badette. Magiging part ako ng adventures nila Atom, magiging friend nila ako dito. Si Bugoy ang gaganap na Atom dito, ang batang makulit, (laughs)” she excitedly shared during the first story conference meeting for Atom held last April 12 at the ABS-CBN compound.

The pretty Cebuana, who admitted that this will be her first foray in acting, said she is ready to do everything after making it through the auditions, and also because she knows this is also a big opportunity for any newbie to be included in a new show.

Akiko is looking forward to the acting workshops for Atom in the coming weeks.

Akiko also admitted that she is excited about working with other members of the cast of Atom, which includes Aiko Melendez and Jomari Yllana. So siguro mas na-cha-challenge ako na gawin yung best ko kasi ang dami kong makakasamang magagaling,” she said.

Even though their stint on Star Power is done, Akiko said she and the other girls still get to see each other every week.

Akiko also shared the changes in her life after joining the show. So hindi na ako umuuwi sa Cebu,” she admitted to Push.com.ph.

Although she is hoping she can visit her hometown this coming Holy Week, Akiko said she will probably be in Manila all throughout the summer to focus on working, which includes her dream project. “Gusto ko yung magka-project na soap opera with Judy Ann Santos. Kasi si Judy Ann
