Enchong Dee defends Erich Gonzales against rumors that she is turning into a diva

040211-enchong-main.jpgAs part of one of the hottest love teams in television today, Enchong Dee couldn’t help but show his disappointment over rumors saying that his good friend and Maria La Del Barrio co-star Erich Gonzales has been displaying diva behavior on the set. “Siguro the people that really don’t know us personally are the people who are talking about a lot of stuff about us so sabi ko yun yung mga hindi mo kailangan pansinin na mga tao,” he said.

The young actor said that ever since they were first paired together onscreen three years ago, he and Erich have been looking out for each other especially when it comes to intrigues and malicious gossip. “Kapag may mga ganun, sinasabihan ko siya and kapag may ganun naman sa akin, sinasabihan niya rin ako kasi we’re the only people who can talk to each other na nakapagsasabihan na ‘Naku, another day, another drama,’ so tomorrow it’s going to be another drama. So nagsasabihan kami na parang palipasin na lang,” he added. Enchong also said that if Erich’s diva-like behavior were true, then they probably would not have as many fans as before.

Because of their closeness, Enchong said he shares Erich sentiments when it comes to having a more mature image because of their sexier scenes in the series. “Katulad nga nung sinasabi niya, puwede ka naman maging sexy without taking your clothes off. Dito namin napapakita na puwede ka maging sensual without even having to take a piece of your clothes off,” he said. After working on separate projects last year, Enchong said he is happy to be reunited with Erich again on a project. “May mga buzz kasi na sinasabi na kailangan mag-separate kami kasi gusto nila makita kami with different partners, pero we’re just thankful to the people who really want to see us on TV together. So sa tingin ko, blessing na naman yun na ilang beses na kami magkasama sa isang proyekto pero gusto pa rin nila makakita ng more pa kasi sa tingin nila kaya pa naming magbigay ng panibagong timpla doon sa aming dalawa,” he admitted.

In the Pinoy adaptation of the popular Mexican telenovela Maria la Del Barrio, Enchong takes on the role of Luis Fernando. The former varsity swimmer says he was only able to get a glimpse of the original series. “Silip lang. Kasi kailangan naming makuha yung spine nung character na gagampanan namin. Pero not totally kukunin namin yung buong pagkatao nung character kasi malayong malayo talaga. Ako si Luis Fernando, ang nagpaibig at nanakit ngunit ipaglalaban pa rin ni Maria sa bandang huli,” he shared.

Enchong also laughed off persistent rumors linking him to Mara Clara actress Kathryn Bernardo. “Naku bata pa yung mga teleserye princesses natin. Hayaan muna natin silang magtrabaho at saka maging fully attended with their own careers kasi sila yung new generation of princesses, ‘di ba?” he said. The young actor also clarified that he did not go on a date with Sabel star  Jessy Mendiola when they were reportedly seen together in Makati. “Naku, kawawa naman siya (laughs). Hindi siguro, hindi ko alam. Matagal na rin kaming hindi nagkakasama ni Jessy and I don’t think na siya yung kasama ko nung time na yun. Marami akong kasama sa Greenbelt. Hindi ko kasi maalala, nung sinabi nga sa akin yan, sabi ko hindi ko talaga maalala. So parang wala namang insidenteng ganun,” he said.
