Mariel Rodriguez says she wants to be the perfect wife for Robin Padilla

030511-mariel_main.jpgCurrently busy hosting ABS-CBN’s newest variety show Happy Yipee Yehey! as well as promoting her upcoming movie Tum: My Pledge of Love, Mariel Rodriguez said that she always makes sure to have enough time to be a doting wife to her husband of almost seven months, Robin Padilla. “I just really want to be a perfect wife for him. For now, I just want my whole world to revolve around Robin Padilla, I know it sounds ano but that’s what I want eh. It’s my dream to be a housewife na hindi ko kailangan na ibibigay lahat-lahat sa akin. Ayokong meron siyang anything to say about me. Gusto ko mabibigay ko lahat. Feel na feel ko pa yung pagiging wife ko,” she said during the February 26 presscon for Tum: My Pledge of Love at Annabel’s Restaurant in Quezon City. Mariel said that Robin was even supportive of her decision to go back to hosting. I’ve always wanted to be a housewife. Dati ko pa yan sinasabi. Gusto ko maghatid ng mga bata sa school, alagaan ang asawa ko, be with friends from time to time. Yun na yung perfect life for me talaga. Hindi naman sa ayaw ko na mag-showbiz, that’s unfair naman because that’s also a blessing. I’d be so unfaithful in saying that. Words are not enough kasi sobra ang pasasalamat ko,” she stressed. Mariel said that she tries to take care of Robin especially when he works himself too hard. “I’m trying to be a good wife. Sometimes when he has work and I tell him to sleep na, kasi kailangan na niya talaga matulog, dahil late na, ganyan. Pero ano, siya tuloy-tuloy pa rin. Even when sasabihin ko na matulog na siya, hihingi pa yan ng allowance, sandali lang,” she said. When it comes to food preferences, Mariel feels lucky that her husband is easy to please. “I’m so happy kasi oatmeal ang gusto niya so para sa kanya. Ngayon ko na-u-understand,” she admitted. Mariel’s taste in food has also changed when she married Robin, a devout Muslim. “I have nothing against naman dun sa mga gusto kumain ng pork. Kanya-kanya yan, Now it’s just that I realized na ‘di ba we don’t like it ‘pag tinatawag tayong baboy? Then why are we going to eat baboy?” she said. Having kids is still on the backburner for the couple as they want to enjoy at least two more years of marital bliss. “Kasi ang natutunan ko with Robin is you don’t really think about the future. Yes we try to imagine the future, but you cannot really plan it because nothing is sure so I’m taking everything one step at a time. I want to be a wife muna before a mom. Right now, I’m just enjoying being married and being his wife,” she admitted.
