030411-dawn_main.jpgFour years after she last did a teleserye via Lastikman, Dawn Zulueta returns to the small screen in the remake of Mula Sa Puso slated to air this March. Dawn will reprise the role of Magda, which was originally played by Jaclyn Jose. “I’m very honored na ako ang napili ng ABS-CBN to reprise a role that has been somewhat iconic dahil alam naman natin na very successful ang run ng Mula Sa Puso back in 1997, so I’m very grateful for that,” explained the actress. Dawn also said that it took her this long to make another teleserye because she got pregnant and had to focus on motherhood.

Dawn said that she agreed to do the project because her working schedule is more lenient compared to the last one she did. “Sinabi naman nila na that it would not eat up too much of my time dahil three times a week lang kami magti-taping. Tapos in terms of the hours meron naman akong cut-off so makakapagpahinga naman ako, ‘yun lang ‘yung makakapagpa-oo sa akin,” she beamed.

The beautiful actress related that she did not religiously follow the original Mula Sa Puso although she caught its film adaptation. “Naaabut-abutan ko lang dati ng konti. What I was able to do is I was able to watch the movie para I could get really the whole story talaga. I did some homework on it,” she explained.

In Mula Sa Puso, Dawn also gets the chance to work with some of today’s up and coming stars such as Lauren Young, JM de Guzman, and Enrique Gil. She said that she feels excited to work with a new generation of stars. “Actually I’m very proud and excited for all of these young stars na tini-train ngayon ng ABS-CBN so nakikita ko talaga that they’re very promising.” Dawn was also all praises for JM whom she describes as a very promising actor. “Meron kaming mga ekesena na talagang very emotional and I’m very surprised na kaming mga veterans we try to make allowances for this younger stars kasi naiintindihan din namin ‘yung pressure sa kanila. So we try to make alalay pero minsan mahirap din para sa amin ‘yon. It becomes a surprise when you’re working with a young talent who really knows how to hold the candle and I can say that about JM talaga.”

Dawn will also have the chance to work again with Eula Valdez in the said soap opera, with whom she last worked with in the ‘90s. “I worked with Eula before, nung dalaga pa kami but I’m excited to work with her again ‘cause it’s been so long. I think the last time that I worked with Eula was in early ‘90s, dalaga pa kami noon. I’m really excited ‘cause I know Eula’s really good. Siyempre masarap bilang performer na alam mo ‘yung mga kasama mo magaling, it helps.”

She also said that she has the blessing of husband Davao del Norte Congressman Anton Lagdameo with her acting stint and added that they have agreed to take turns in taking care of son Jacobo, who has started going to school.
