Lauren Dyogi reveals the preparations being done for 'The Biggest Loser: Pinoy Edition'

032911-direklauren_main.jpgBusiness Unit Head Lauren Dyogi recently announced that all is set for the start of The Biggest Loser: Pinoy Edition. Direk Lauren, the main man behind other ABS-CBN hit reality shows like Pinoy Big Brother, Pinoy Dream Academy, and Pinoy Fear Factor, led the contract signing with the representatives from business partners St. Luke’s Hospital, DMCI Homes, and Fitness First.

Direk Lauren revealed the roles that these partners will play in the Filipino adaptation of the worldwide hit reality show that focuses on losing weight. “St. Luke’s will provide personnel and services to look after the health of the contestants and also the staff. In the camp, kasama sila for possible emergencies. They will also be the one to check if the contestants are fit to join the contest. Fitness First will provide the fitness program, with Jim Saret and Chinggay Andrada as our instructors. DMCI is our new partner, they will provide the condominium unit as prize sa mananalo dito sa Biggest Loser.”

Direk Lauren cleared up speculations that the local Biggest Loser will use the facilities of the Pinoy Big Brother house. “This has no relation with PBB. Our contestants for the Biggest Loser will not stay at the Big Brother house. That is exclusive only to PBB. Ang camp natin ay somewhere south of Manila. There the contestants will stay for four months.”

The Biggest Loser: Pinoy Edition is currently in the process of narrowing down its final line up of contestants, hopefully in time for its target airing schedule this April. “Katatapos lang ng fitness tests sa mga contestants. We will meet with St. Luke’s kung sino ba, based on their findings, ang talagang fit to undergo with the training program ng Biggest Loser. After that we will come up with the final line up of contestants.” When asked if there will be celebrity contestants, Direk Lauren said, “May mga kino-consider kami pero wala pa kaming final line up kung sino ang makakasali. Celebrities in their own rights.”

In the past years Direk Lauren’s team had successfully acquired rights to some renowned foreign programs and managed to create local adaptations that suit the tastes of the Filipino audience. In The Biggest Loser: Pinoy Edition, he said that the creative team will keep the viewers interested in the core value of the program. “We will make sure na ang mga viewers makikilala ang mga contestants, dadamayan sila sa kanilang journey patungo sa pagiging healthier. The best thing the show can teach is how we can have a healthier lifestyle. Makaka-relate ang mga manonood dahil hindi lang naman ito tungkol sa mga may problema sa timbang. Ito ay tungkol sa mga taong gustong maiba ang kanilang buhay.
