Mariel Rodriguez says husband Robin Padilla doesn't give himself enough credit in 'Tum: My Pledge of Love.'
With the upcoming March 16 playdate of their movie Tum: My Pledge of Love
Mariel Rodriguez was ecstatic about sharing with fans her first labor
of love with husband of about seven months, Robin Padilla. The movie,
which took them more than a month to shoot in India, was something that
Mariel said was an unforgettable experience not just as an actress but
also as a wife. “When we were shooting the movie in India, dun na
we were able to work hand in hand. It was a really, really good experience. Ibang klase si
Robin ka-trabaho. Yung
focus at passion niya sa trabaho ibang klase.
So medyo nagra
-rub off yun sa aming lahat na nasa
India. Inspired ako kasi kasama ko yung asawa ko. Yang hindi mo nararamdaman na nagtratrabaho ka. Masaya sobra
,” she shared during the Tum: My Pledge of Love
presscon held last February 26 at Annabel’s restaurant in Quezon City.
Mariel said that even that being directed by her husband was not as
difficult as people think. “We were there for more than a month. May mga
instances na napagsasabihan ako kung saan kulang, kung saan babawasan, pero hindi yung parang pagtalunan. Iba yung
as an artista ka
working relationship at saka yung
personal relationship,” she said.
The 26-year-old noontime show host said that even though working on the
movie has taken up a lot of Robin’s time, she fully understands that it
is all part of his work ethic. “Siyempre
all the more you have to support and understand ‘di ba? Dapat
all the more na dapat mag
-work together kami kasi ang
objective naman ng lahat
is to make the movie beautiful. So doon iisa naman ang
objective ng mga tao so madali mag
-work,” she added.
The newlyweds showed up at their press con holding hands, with Robin
hardly leaving Mariel’s side during the whole event. Mariel admitted to
the press that her husband had barely even gotten an hour’s sleep that
day after working all night on the movie, which is in post-production.
Robin also wrote and directed the film, but Mariel insisted that this
doesn’t mean that he had lost time for them as a couple. “Meron siyang ilalaan na oras para sa tunay na buhay at meron din siyang ‘pag trabaho, trabaho talaga. Ganun siya,”
When Robin told the press that his wife helped write the story, Mariel
quickly corrected the fact by saying that her husband likes to share
the credit of making the film with the whole crew, despite her
witnessing him labor many long hours on it himself. “Tiga-type lang ako, si
. I call myself his typist or secretary. Actually Robin’s really so generous that he’s not giving enough credit to himself.
-conceptualize lahat. Mula sa nag-isip sa
script, idea niya lahat lahat talaga,
” she said.
The Happy Yipee Yehey!
host also shared that even though
there was a team composed of two Filipino and two Indian directors also
working on the movie, it was Robin who was on top of everything
regarding Tum: My Pledge of Love
. “Yung sinasabi niya na
yes we have contributing directors pero siya pa rin talaga. Pero bilang
never niya inamin. Lagi namin ito pinag-aawayan actually. Kasi lagi kong
