Coco Martin says Minsan Lang Kita Iibigin is a big challenge for him

Although Coco Martin is known for being an intense actor, he confessed that he finds it difficult to play dual roles in his launching teleserye, Minsan Lang Kita Iibigin, which will start airing this March 7 on primetime. Coco plays twins Alexander and Javier who get separated when they are babies and then grow up living extremely different lives. "Sobrang hirap akala ko ganun-ganun lang 'lsquo;pag pinapanood ko," the actor described.

He recalled that he did a scene which started at 1 pm and ended at 3 am the following day. "Sobrang hirap. 'lsquo;Yung gusto ko nang umiyak sa sobrang hirap kaso wala naman akong magawa kundi [sumunod], siyempre trabaho [so] kailangan tapusin."

Nevertheless, his hard work paid off because Coco wowed the members of the media during the press preview of the upcoming teleserye at the Podium Cinema last Wednesday, February 23.

The Prince of Indie movies explained that he did his homework to make sure that each of his two characters is distinct from each other. Coco is also thankful to his directors for helping him out. "Actually inaral naman namin kung paano maging magkaiba talaga, kung paano kumilos, gumalaw, pati mag-isip yung dalawang characters. Medyo binabantayan naman nang maigi ng mga direktor ko kaya maayos nman naming naisagawa ang dual characters."

Coco portrays one character who is a military officer while the other is a rebel. "Mahirap kasi nag-train ako sa military para sa tamang kilos, tamang galaw, tamang moves and then nag-research ako tungkol sa character kong rebelde and then may mga kinausap din ako sa mga taong taga-bundok para makakuha ako ng maraming impormasyon tungkol sa character ko."

While his characters require hard work, Coco said that acting opposite seasoned actors added a lot of pressure. His co-stars include Lorna Tolentino, Amy Austria-Ventura, John Estrada, Tonton Gutierrez, and Ronaldo Valdez. "Nakakatakot, nakaka-pressure, syempre mahirap magkamali. Alam namin 'lsquo;pag dumating sa set 'lsquo;yan laging ready so kahit paano kailangan naming sabayan sa pagiging professionals."

Meantime, Coco is also happy to work again with Maja Salvador with whom he worked with in the previous afternoon soap opera Nagsimula sa Puso. The character actor explained that it is always a delight to work with Maja because she is a good actor and exudes good vibes on the set.'nbsp; His other leading lady is Andi Eigenmann. "Pangalawang beses na namin itong nagkatrabaho ni Maja, napaka-professional at napakabait at napakahusay na artista at ganun din naman si Andi. Wala kaming ginawa kundi magtawanan."
