Iya Villania on marriage: 'It's a formality, it's a title'

120811-iya_main.jpgIya Villania laughed off rumors that she and boyfriend Drew Arellano are already secretly married. “Wala pa. Ito ‘yung sinasabi ko, natatawa nga ako kasi nakarating na rin sa akin [ang tsismis] ‘yung iba nga kino-congratulate na ako, parang engaged na ako, parang saan nanggaling ‘yan?” she clarified at the press conference of her latest endorsement, ATC’s Redoxfat Slimming Capsule.

Ang sabi ko seven years na kami together and we have no plans of heading down that direction, of breaking up, so ano pa bang direksyon namin? Siyempre sa future and that would be nice but we’re not there yet.”

The actress suggested that marriage is just a symbolic status for two people in love, which is why she and Drew are in no rush to  get married. “It’s there but there’s no deadline. It won’t make us love each other any less if we get married now. It’s a title, it’s a formality pero we’re really not in a rush.” She explained that she and Drew really want to be with each other but they are willing to wait for the right time, when they are both ready. “Well more than anything siya ‘yung naghihintay because he’s older,” she shared. “Masaya kami, happier than ever.”

Asked about her dream wedding, Iya answered that she wants a garden wedding. She said that she is taking her time because she still has a lot of things she wants to do. She enumerated, “I’d like to be able to perform and tour, I also want to become successful with something outside the industry, it might have something to do with fitness, restaurant or clothing… some business of some sort and be successful with that.”

She continued that she intends to work on these plans next year. “Maybe I might be able to start on that next year. I just want be with anyone. People always want to learn something new [and] I’m out there to discover and learn something.”
