Vic Sotto admits he is proud of his MMFF film entry: 'I think this is the best'

122211-vic_main.jpgIn what is anticipated to be one of the most exciting movies in the Metro Manila Film festival line-up this year, Vic Sotto guaranteed that the fantasy-comedy film Enteng ng Ina Mo will appeal to everybody. “It’s a movie that will cater to every member of the family. Kids will love the adventure aspect of the movie. Yung mga teenagers, mga nanay at tatay, yung mga in love, kumpleto yung ingredients eh. May love story tapos merong other woman na story. Pero number one aspect pa rin is the comedy. Iba kasi yung mga sitwasyon ni Tanging Ina, iba yung sitwasyon ni Enteng Kabisote. Parang magkaiba sila ng mundo. Nakakatuwa na yung mga writers and director, napag-gel nila yung dalawa and I think personally, mas nakakatawa sa mga dating ginagawa ko. Mas nakakatawa, mas touching, mas relevant, and mas family-oriented talaga,” he admitted.

The veteran comedian, who has had box office hits with all the previous Enteng Kabisote movies, admitted that his team-up with Ai-Ai de las Alas proves to be a very promising one. “It’s a complete meal. Parang three-in-one, parang kape. Hindi lang two-in-one pero three-in-one kasi we have Tanging Ina, we have Enteng Kabisote tapos nagsama sila. Aba, matindi ang Enteng ng Ina Mo. I’m very proud of this movie. I think this is the best among the Enteng Kabisote series and partnerships na nagawa ko. I think this is the best,” he admitted.

The 57-year-old actor admitted that because the two big movie franchises cater to different audiences, they are bound to draw a larger slice of the box-office receipts by joining forces this year. But Vic says they had to overcome the initial hurdle of finding a storyline that would bring the two families together. “Iba yung crowd ni Tanging Ina, iba rin yung crowd ni Enteng Kabisote, so yun yung una kong pinoproblema eh. Si Enteng Kabisote more of the fantasy and Tanging Ina is more on the reality. Although they have one thing in common which is family. Parehong family-oriented yan eh. As in the values, tungkol sa mga problema ng mag-asawa at mga anak. Kahit na ganun yun, they still belong to different crowds. Iba yung crowd ni Enteng at iba yung crowd ni Ina kaya pag yun ang nagsama, magiging crowded talaga (laughs). Pero dahil henyo yung aming mga writers at director, napagtagpo naming yung dalawang mundo. As a matter of fact, dun tumakbo yung storya ng Enteng ng Ina Mo. Kung papano nag-meet yung kanilang mga landas. Sa unang tingin, parang malabo yata na magkita yung dalawa, di bale pa yung last year kasi parehong fantasy yun eh. Si Agimat at si Enteng. This time, ang magandang kinalabasan, it became very entertaining. It was really fun. A lot of fun moments and of course yung mga values about family, about being a father, being a mother, kung papano nahahalo yung fantasy at reality,” he shared.

Vic also said that part of the reason why Filipinos have enjoyed watching Enteng Kabisote’s adventures is because of the universal element of fantasy that every person has a longing for. “Tayo namang mga tao hindi lang mga Pilipino, lahat ng mga sa mundo, there’s always a fantasy moment for everyone eh. Marami tayong mga iniisip na pag hindi natin kaya, sa pantasya natin naaabot. And maybe yan yung isa sa mga pinapanuod ng mga tao sa Enteng Kabisote series. It is some sort of an escape from reality,” he explained.

Catch Enteng ng Ina Mo when it opens on December 25 in more than 100 theaters nationwide.
