Alwyn Uytingco says he doesn't get bothered by rumors that he is gay

120211-alwyn_main.jpgOn board once again to play Ai-Ai De las Alas's gay son Pip in this year's installment of Star Cinema's Tanging Ina franchise entitled Enteng Ng Ina Mo, Alwyn Uytingco said he is not bothered by rumors that he is gay because he plays his role so convincingly well onscreen. “Actually hindi ako napipikon. I take it as a compliment or rather as a constructive criticism kasi kung masasabihan nila ako na machichismis ako na bakla ako, ibig sabihin ganun ka-effective yung character ko. So flattered pa rin ako,” he said.

The talented actor said even when he was first offered the role, he never hesitated about accepting it. “Well nung una lang talaga, I just wanted to try it. Kasi lahat tayo gusto natin subukan yung iba’t ibang klaseng character. So ayun,” he shared with Push.com.ph.

Alwyn said his relationship with girlfriend Jennica Garcia, daughter of Jean Garcia, has also never been affected by the rumor. “Okay lang naman yun with Jennica. When she hears chismis na I'm a homosexual, natatawa lang kami. Pagdadaanan mo talaga lahat yan,” he said.

Alwyn said there is no big secret to their almost two-year relationship. “Kahit ano pang sabihin ko, may mga challenges din naman kami sa relationship namin and nasa understanding yun, it has to be very wide. Yung pag-unawa mo, pagpasensiya mo, siguro dasal na rin helps,” he admitted.

Alwyn admitted that he has now become more at home with playing the role of the flamboyant Pip, but said it still comes with certain challenges. And ngayon I’m trying to experiment more.

Alwyn also revealed that his gay friends are still not aware how much they have helped him portray his role well.

Even with this year's collaboration with the Enteng Kabisote cast, Alwyn said there is no added pressure on the cast. “Wala naman siguro. Ako wala naman akong na-feel na ganun. Kasi nung nakikita ko sila kuya Jose at sila kuya Wally, na-inspire ako. Na-inspire ako to do better. To bring out the best in me. Kumbaga inspiration sila,” he said.
