Paulo Avelino says he is slowly realizing his showbiz dreams since he moved to ABS-CBN

110411-paulo_main.jpgPaulo Avelino has become very visible and busy two months after he signed a contract with ABS-CBN. After having guest appearances on programs like Wansapanataym and Maalaala Mo Kaya, Paulo is slated to appear in two upcoming big projects on the Kapamilya network: the Christmas-themed teleserye, Ikaw ang Pag-Ibig which will be top-billed by young stars Zaijian Jaranilla, Xyriel Manabat, Mutya Orquia, and Louise Abuel; and the soap opera Walang Hanggan which will be led by Richard Gomez, Dawn Zulueta, Coco Martin, Julia Montes, Melissa Ricks among others. While Ikaw Ang Pag-Ibig is scheduled to air this Christmas Season, Walang Hanggan is expected to start early next year.

“I’m very thankful also to the Kapamilya network for giving me the chance to be part of them and for the very warm welcome, sa lahat ng tulong na ibinibigay nila at lahat ng opportunity na ibinibigay nila sa akin,” he said in a recent interview.

Paulo’s network transfer paved way for him to get long-awaited big breaks in his showbiz career. Nevertheless, he said that only half of the battle has been won because he still needs to prove that he is deserving of these opportunities. “Ako never ako nakakampante,” he explained. “Once na naging comfortable ako, I tend to relax [and] not strive higher. Ngayon talaga sini-set ko ‘yung mind ko [na] there is always a room for improvement, there’s always things to be worked on.”

Right now, Paulo said that a one of his dreams will be realized soon, that is a chance to work with Coco Martin via Walang Hanggan.

The actor said that one of his previous reasons for switching networks was to be a better actor and with how things are going, Paulo said that he has made the right choice. “Hindi ko pa naaabot pero I can see that I’m slowly improving, I’m slowly going there and hopefully in a few years or a hundred years makukuha ko ‘yon.”

Paolo also noticed the impressive working habits of ABS-CBN stars. He said he admires how Kapamilya stars put a lot of their heart to their work. “Kapamilya actors and actresses… it’s different. It’s different in a way na they’re very serious about their craft. They’re very dedicated sa work nila. I’ve worked with a few Kapamilyas pa lang and I can say that its an honor to work with different Kapamilya stars.”

He mentioned how impressed he was with KC Concepcion when they did an episode of Maalaala Mo Kaya. He described the Megastar’s daughter as, “very kind person, she’s a great actress. She’s someone I did not expect her to be, hindi ko in-expect na napaka-down-to-earth niyang tao.” At first, the actor related that he felt uncomfortable around KC, “Pero na-break naman ‘yung ice and we got to know each other better and naging komportable naman.”

Though he has been in the business for a few years, Paulo said that he feels like he is starting over again when he switched networks. “Yes naging mahirap ‘yung adjustment and actually until now naga-adjust pa. Hindi ko pa talaga gamay,” he confessed.

He even refused to concede to observations that ABS-CBN is building him up, what with the big projects he is slated to do. More importantly, Paulo said he believes that he is being given opportunities to prove his mettle. He did not deny though that he is overwhelmed by the projects he has been given. “Yes they’ve been giving me a lot of opportunities to prove myself and ‘yun I don’t want to let them down.”

If he were to decide, Paulo said that he would rather choose not to be identified with one leading lady. “I’d rather stand alone, eh kasi mahirap para sa akin na mag-stick to one
