Derek Ramsay has no problem being second choice in his upcoming film with Bea Alonzo

113011-derek_main.jpgIn an interview with Push.com.ph, Derek Ramsay revealed that one of his upcoming projects is a movie with Bea Alonzo under Star Cinema. “Yes, I was actually offered a great story. My God, tumayo yung balahibo ko when they offered it to me. It would be nice to work again with Bea on the big screen. It’s a daring role for Bea. But we’ve worked together so many times—One More Chance, And I Love You So, Magkaribal—so I’m very comfortable working with her.”

Derek admitted that it was the same film that Sam Milby turned down in favor of a Hollywood career. “I think so, yes. Sam decided to go and venture off to Hollywood and good luck to him. Fortunately enough, I was the next in line.” The dashing actor added that he has no trouble being second choice for the role. “No, not at all. You know, Sam is a great actor, but I think he's got other things that he wants to do. And since I’m second choice, I’m still going to give my 200 percent.”

With two certified box office hits (No Other Woman and Praybeyt Benjamin) under his belt, it wouldn’t be a surprise if Derek becomes choosy with his next projects; but that’s just not the case. “Yun siguro, sana [tumaas ang talent fee ko]. Hahaha! I always review the projects given to me. But am I going to be more picky? No. I’m going to stick to how I’ve done things. I’m a team player and let’s not forget, there are a lot of great members in the cast for both movies. I did my job. We all did our job. We work together as a team too and bring out great two films. I just want to learn and I want to work with so many good actresses and hopefully, the success would be as big.”

Looking back, Derek shared that it was all about making a wise decision coupled with perfect timing. “I fought for these two. I said yes to these two movies before the teleserye Reputasyon was offered to me. So unfortunately, I would love to do Reputasyon but I had to choose. I said, ‘Naka-oo na ako sa two movies na ito.’  2011 is a great year for me. And it’s funny enough that 11 is my lucky number. 11 is my jersey when I play Frisbee as well,” he beamed. (Derek figured in an accident playing Frisbee and has since contemplated on quitting the sport.—Ed)
