Nikki Valdez doesn't mind being labeled the 'Pambansang Best Friend'

112011-nikki-main.jpgAs part of Star Cinema’s blockbuster hit Praybeyt Benjamin, Nikki Valdez said she feels blessed to be part of the cast of the highest grossing Filipino film of all time. “Napakasaya naming lahat. Lahat kami hindi makapaniwala. We believed in the project that we did pero hindi namin aakalain na tatangkilikin ng ganun ng tao. I guess dapat naming pasalamatan yung mga viewers because siguro they all need a good laugh and they decided to support the movie talaga. We did everything para mapaganda yung pelikula,” she said.

The 32-year-old actress, who played the role of the tomboyish Lucresia Alcantara in the film, said she also enjoyed working the chance to work with Vice Ganda again. They had previously worked together on the 2009 film In My Life. “Actually this is my second movie with him. But this one kasi parang mas marami kaming pinagsamahan na scenes together. Mas marami kaming moments kesa sa first movie and I’m very, very happy I got the chance to work with him again. Kung bibigyan kami ng pagkakataon ulit na magkasama ay napaka-thankful ko kung mangyari ulit yun,” she admitted to Push.com.ph.

Of all their hilarious scenes in the movie, Nikki revealed that one of the most memorable moments for her was the one where she dared Vice Ganda to kiss her. “I think yung pinaka-moment namin is yung akala nung tao maghahalikan kaming dalawa. First time yun in my 14 years in the business na magkaroon ng ganung scene kasi sabi nga kanila ako yung pambansang best friend so dito sa movie na ito mas napakita ko na aside from being his best friend, napakita ko yung skills ko individually as a soldier and at least nagawa ko ng tama yung role ko na medyo tomboy. I think yun yung highlight sa lahat ng scenes na ginawa ko,” she shared.

The talented actress also admitted that  she enjoyed the more physical scenes they shot while at the camp. “Yung favorite ko dun sa physical scenes was yung rappelling. Ako yung babae and ako yung pinauna ng director. I have a fear of heights so at least dito na-conquer ko siya. Dito kasi dingding lang yung kaharap mo so tuloy-tuloy lang yung pagbaba ko pero at least masasabi ko na I did the stunt myself. It was my first time to rappel talaga,” she admitted.

In Praybeyt Benjamin, Nikki said she did not mind having to deglamorize herself by wearing minimal makeup and getting a boy’s cut. “That’s the most exciting part of being an actress kasi nagagawa mo lahat eh, napapaglaruan mo yung role mo and I enjoy it so much. As a soldier, hindi ka naman puwedeng maging malinis ‘di ba? kita niyo naman pinagupit ko talaga yung buhok para sa movie, nag-shoot kami sa ulan, sa lakas ng bagyo. May time na nung shinu-shoot namin yun na height ng bagyong Pedring eh. It’s a fun part of being an actor and I love doing that so na-enjoy ko siya. Pinaka-improtante naman sa lahat ng ginagawa ko is that I love and enjoy it.
