Derek Ramsay made sure he was there for Angelica Panganiban's birthday even when he was sick.
Despite the fact that he was feeling sick, Derek Ramsay said that he really made it a point to be there for Angelica Panganiban’s 25th birthday which they celebrated in Boracay last November 4. According to the 31-year-old actor, his girlfriend’s only request for her birthday was his presence that weekend.
Angel’s relatives from abroad also flew in just to celebrate with her on the island. “Andun ako, pero natutulog ako sa
hotel bed. I was very sick. In fact, I’m still recovering. We all went to Boracay kasama yung pamilya niya
and even yung pamilya niya
from the States came. Yung pamangkin niya na ma-se-
December came out too so yun, may konting
Boracay,” he shared during the Gerald Anderson Charity Basketball Event last November 13 at the Ynares Sports Center in Pasig.
The Praybeyt Benjamin actor said he enjoyed spending time and bonding with Angel’s family but regrets that her dad was unable to fly in from the US. “Wala siya pero
he called and he left a message for Angel. I think they showed the message on an episode of Banana Split. Hindi kasi siya nakapunta. Baka
next year makapunta na siya
,” he said.
Derek admitted that he has yet to give Angel a birthday present. During the course of their five-year relationship, the actor has been known to give lavish gifts like a designer bag, a mini cooper car, and more recently, a pair of diamond earrings. “Actually kasi wala pa
. The first gift that she asked from me was I have to be there for her birthday. Na ayus ko yung
schedule para magkasama kami kasi lahat ng mga pamilya niya
from the States darating.
So sabi ko
by next week ko pa ibibigay yung
,” he said to Push.com.ph. With the overwhelming success of his recent movies No Other Woman
and Praybeyt Benjamin
, Derek can well afford to shower his loved ones with extravagant gifts.
The talented actor-athlete also played as captain of the ASAP Rocks
basketball team during a recent rematch with Gerald Anderson’s Star Magic team during the Charity Basketball event. After the game, Derek talked to Push.com.ph about his thoughts on being a top contender for this year’s Box Office King award. Even though the comedy Praybeyt Benjamin
has overtaken No other Woman
at the box office and it’s starting to look like comedian Vice Ganda will also be a strong contender for the same award, Derek said he has never assumed that he was entitled to any award yet. “I’m not competing against anyone. I’ve always been a team player. If they give me Box office King, that’s an amazing award. But what’s important is we came out with two good movies and millions of people enjoyed watching it. So for me, I’m very happy with the turnout. If bigyan ako ng
Box office king, extra na lang yun
. Right now I’m on cloud nine. I’m very happy with my 2011. It’s been a very good year.” he shared with Push.com.ph.
