The Budoy star once again proved his talent on the court by bagging the MVP award.
Team Star Magic
emerged victorious against Team ASAP Rocks
in a basketball game which ended with the score of 69 to 59 during the Gerald Anderson Charity Basketball Tournament held last November 13 at the Ynares Sports Arena in Pasig. The game was a re-match from their first match-up last July during the second annual Star Magic Games which ended with Team ASAP Rocks winning by just one point. Event organizer and Star Magic team captain Gerald Anderson was one of the early birds on the court, making sure everything was going smoothly while greeting fans and other visitors to the venue.
The game started at 5 pm with Andrei Felix hosting and Jovit Baldovino singing the national anthem in front of an enthusiastic crowd of fans and beneficiaries of the tournament. UAAP cheering competition champions University of the Philippines Pep Squad opened the program with their winning routine. Team ASAP Rocks
made a splashy entrance as drums from their band starting pounding when Jhong Hilario entered the court while doing back flips and showing off some dance moves. He was followed by team captain Derek Ramsay, Vhong Navarro, Carlos Agassi, Jaco Benin, Robi Domingo, Martin Nievera, Gab Valenciano, and Eric Tai.
The Star Magic
Team followed with team captain Gerald leading a visibly taller squad composed of Zanjoe Marudo, Xian Lim, Rayver Cruz, Jason Abalos, Young JV, Matt Evans, and Gerard Acao. The first quarter started off slow for Team Star Magic with Team ASAP Rocks
gaining an 8-0 lead before Zanjoe got two consecutive baskets for Star Magic.
Early in the game, high energy gameplay was seen from Jhong and Vhong who proved they not only had chemistry on the dance floor but on the hard court as well. Gab also showed good defense by diving on the floor just for ball possession and Derek showed some power drives and played hard defense despite the fact he was not feeling well that day.
Although it was mostly Team ASAP Rocks
who dominated the game during the first two quarters, Team Star Magic
started warming up and gaining momentum by the third quarter with Gerald and Young JV's consistent three-pointers.
The MVP award went to Gerald for scoring 19 points for his team. The Budoy
star could not have been any happier with the turnout at the charity tournament and he hoped his fans and supporters will continue to support similar endeavors of his in the future.
