Queen of All Media Kris Aquino admits that the key to being trusted to always be honest.
For anybody who has ever tuned in to television, watched a movie, or driven down major thoroughfares, it’s hard not to notice the numerous advertisements that Kris Aquino has. From food products to houseware, the host of the top-rated daily lifestyle show Kris TV is definitely on top of the list when it comes to being a trusted endorser.
When asked how she has managed to build up that kind of image, the 40-year-old mother of two admitted she just likes to keep things real. “Because I’m not a liar. Yun lang yun. What you hear and what you see is what you get. Totoo talaga ako,” she said during the K Everyday collection launch of her newest home and kitchen products at SM Megamall last October 2.
Despite her hectic schedule, Kris admitted she always makes it a point to prioritize events that allow her to connect to her fans on a more personal level, which is why she is also open to mall shows for her K Everyday product line. “Alam niyo kasi it’s a way to connect. Kasi ‘di ba ang laki ng pasasalamat ko na araw-araw nanunuod sila ng programa, na dahil sa pagtangkilik nila nadagdagan ng time yung show because full load tayo and in an economic climate like this, ang laki ng pasasalamat ko sa tiwala ng advertisers. It’s my way din of saying thank you,” she said.
The successful host-actress also shared the advice given to her by doctor Vicki Belo. “Sinabi ni Doktora Vicki ito, ang endorser na gusto mo, may hawak na mikropono araw-araw. Yun ang sinabi niya na may daily visibility at yung naririnig ang boses araw-araw,” she shared.
Even though she still had to sign a contract stipulating conditions she had to follow as an endorser for a particular product, Kris said that it was not hard to follow due to the fact that she has always maintained a clean and healthy lifestyle. “Nung dumating lahat ng commercials, maraming pinirmahan kami ni Boy (Abunda, her manager) na good conduct clause. It’s no longer called a morality clause. So you also know how to behave. But I think malaking factor yun na hindi ako laman ng bars, hindi ko trip yun eh. Sinabi ni Boy sa akin na malaking bagay na I’m so transparent and so public. So alam mong walang tinatago talaga. So hindi ako pakalat-kalat. Alam nila workaholic ako. alam nilang maka-pamilya ako and alam nila yung dalawang anak ko priority ko talaga so I think yung parang values na ine-espouse ko ngayon, yun yung hinahanap nila,” she explained.
Now that her younger son Bimby has also become more visible in commercials, Kris is proud that her son has adjusted well to the limelight. “I guess I also have to give credit to the fact na naka-produce ako ng anak like Bimby na kasing daldal at may personalidad of his own. Kasi importante yun talaga na yung commercial believable. ‘Pag meron siyang sinasabi, parang in fairness to him talaga, natural,” she said.
The proud mom says she wants to raise her son to be down-to-earth despite his popularity. “I always try na paalahanan siya na nakaapak sa lupa talaga. Pati yung mga sisters ko, hindi puwedeng masyadong ma-spoil,” she admitted. Kris has reportedly already bought Bimby his own condominium unit with his own earnings, but the talk show host said that she now chooses to keep details of her family’s property acquisitions private.
