100611-xian_main.jpgXian Lim revealed that he passed up the chance to appear in a celebrity event last month in favor of his teleserye My Binondo Girl. The aspiring actor revealed that he was approached by the organizers of the popular event—which features male celebrities showing off their physique onstage—because he does not want to be distracted.

Naisip ko kasi if I join maaapektuhan ang focus ko. To be honest, I’ve been waiting for this break (My Binondo Girl). I decided to focus on it more. Parang ayoko ng ibang distraction. I want to make the best out of it,” explained Xian at the pictorial of Mint, the clothing brand he is currently endorsing, at the Midas Hotel along Roxas Boulevard. “I just want to prioritize work that I’ve been waiting for so long.”

Asked about his long-term plan in showbiz, Xian said that he hopes to become a versatile actor. “Sana hindi lang siya ‘yung one time big time, I want to last [in showbiz], I want to play different characters, I want to be a diverse actor. Sana it goes well.”

He explained that he looks up to veteran actors Christopher de Leon and Cherie Gil, whose careers continue to thrive in the industry after many years. He continued that he hopes to have the chance to work with them in the future.

Xian said that he sees himself doing more projects in the drama genre, but also hopes to be exposed to other themes as well, such as comedy and action. He added that through this, he could make himself a better actor.

Currently, Xian is one of the leading men of Kim Chiu in My Binondo Girl, and although he does not mind having an onscreen partner, the model-turned-actor related that he does not want his career to be dependent on a love team. “For me I want to experience a lot of things, gusto kong ma-experience ‘yung may love team. I want to care for someone onscreen and maybe off-screen ‘di ba?” he said. “Baka mas masaya kung may love team, [pero] sana hindi lang magtatapos don. Sana after the love team there are others that I can play, hindi lang isa kung ‘di a lot.”

Meantime, Xian said that he is glad about the new addition to their primetime teleserye, Maja Salvador. “The more the merrier,” he said. Mas nakakatuwa kasi we’re getting another cast [member].” He said that he is not that close to Maja but they are friends. He continued, “It’s going to be new, sabi nga namin sa press con it’s going to be a lot of twists and turns. This is one of them na nangyayari so ang dapat abangan ng mga tao, [kung] ano nga ba ang role niya.”
