Kris Aquino shares why she now prefers to keep her views on divorce private

100611-kris_main.jpgWith her annulment case with cager James Yap still pending, Kris Aquino admitted that she hopes the courts will come out with a decision soon. “Kasi tapos na all the hearings and everything so sana meron na para life can move forward for both James and myself,” she shared during the latest K Everyday collections product launch held last October 2 at SM Megamall.

During the event, Kris showcased her new collection of cookware, homeware, and high-quality stationery and paper products. Unlike previous interviews, the Kris TV host refrained from airing her opinions on controversial issues like the Reproductive Health bill and the legalization of divorce in the country. “Alam mo kasi kakapagbati lang namin ng simbahan, ng pamilya namin sa RH, so kahit na meron akong sarili kong opinion about that, hindi naman ako elected official. Wala namang saysay kung ano man yung opinion ko,” she explained.

The Queen of All Media did not directly state her opinion on how she felt about divorce but requested that people just read between the lines with regards to her stance on it. “Honestly kasi, ang pagpapa-annul, it’s really a difficult process. It costs a lot of money. So nakakaawa yung those who don’t have enough to pay for good lawyers and to get the right psychologists, yung ganun. Most especially ‘pag yung babae ang hindi stable ang trabaho and all, ang hirap ‘di ba? So hindi ko alam. Siguro nababasa niyo naman sa hindi ko sinasabing words kung nasaan ang opinion ko dun. Pero the fact is, we’re still predominantly Catholic nation eh. Yun ang problema. So kailangan respetuhin din natin. Kung gusto natin ng diborsyo, dapat hindi tayo naging Katoliko. So ang hirap ilagay kung ano ang sa pananaw mong gusto mong mangyari talaga while still respecting the stand of the church,” she revealed.

The 40-year-old host-actress said that her older brother President Noynoy Aquino has already taken steps towards smoothing things over with the church regarding these issues. “I think the president himself acknowledged that nung SONA niya na he reached out to several cardinals, several bishops, and all and they had a meeting and the talks are tuloy-tuloy, tuloy yung communication. Kasi hindi naman puwedeng nag-dinner tayo, nag-usap tayo, tapos na yun. Parang ngayon may direct line of communication,” she added.
