102511-richard_main.jpgAfter being away for ten years, Richard Gomez was happy to be back in the Kapamilya network and to see a lot of familiar faces during his contract signing yesterday, October 24. “I am very happy; I’m very flattered because everyone’s making me feel welcome.

Asked how this career move came about, Richard shared that it was his business manager Pia Campos who struck a deal with the network’s bigwigs. “She’s the one who has been talking to people in ABS-CBN. She’s the one who made it happen. And then, of course, kailangan ng approval from the management. I’m very happy that the prodigal son is back! Siguro that was the reason kung bakit ako umalis ng ABS-CBN noon. But now, I’m here again,” he told Push.com.ph.

Right after the contract signing, Richard proceeded to the story conference of his reunion soap with Dawn Zulueta, Walang Hanggan, which also top-bills Coco Martin, Julia Montes, Melissa Ricks, and Paolo Avelino.

Richard further shared that his wife, Leyte Representative Lucy Torres, was equally excited about his tandem with Dawn in Walang Hanggan. “Lucy is a big fan of Richard and Dawn. She watched Hihintayin Kita Sa Langit more than 20 times. So when she found out about this project, she was so happy that she texted Dawn right away. Sabi niya, ‘Oh my God, you and Goma are having a project together!’

If there’s anything he learned from his unexpected return to ABS-CBN, Richard said that it’s important to treasure one’s craft as well as the friendships that you make along the way. “Being here is a wonderful realization. Lessons learned? You just have to always be on top of your game and maintain the friends that you’ve had in the past. I remember Tita Cory, back during VIP (Vilma In Person) days, she was still a PA (production assistant) at that time, magkatrabaho na kami. So, I am really happy to be a Kapamilya again.”
