Thou Reyes applies for a dance scholarship in Australia after doing 'The Kitchen Musical'

102311-thou-main.jpgBack after an intensive four months of doing workshops and tapings for the musical TV series The Kitchen Musical, Thou Reyes is happy to do the country proud with the intercontinental show currently airing in various Southeast Asian countries. The 26-year-old actor admits he had an unforgettable time working in Singapore along with other Filipino cast members Karylle and Christian Bautista. “It was awesome. Actually parang malungkot siya kasi parang naging family na naming yung cast and crew sa Singapore and mahirap talaga magsabi ng goodbye so ang sinasabi naming palagi is until we meet again kasi we’re all praying for season two,” he admits. Thou is also especially proud at the positive reviews the show has been getting after a few weeks of airing. “Ngayon napalabas na siya sa Indonesia, Malaysia and Philippines, 'yun and so far so good yung mga feedback namin. Sobrang sarap sa puso kasi parang worth it yung four months na nawala kami sa Philippines. So yeah medyo mixed emotions. Masaya at malungkot ako. Malungkot kasi nami-miss namin yung friends naming dun pero masaya kasi we’re back, we’re home so yun,” he explains to Push.com.ph.
After training under popular Australian choreographer Jason Coleman, who is currently a judge in the Australian franchise of the hit TV series So You Think You Can Dance, Thou admits that he feels honored to get the chance to work up close with the popular dance consultant. “Sa dance part siyempre ang nag-handle sa amin is one of the best choreographers sa Australia and para masabihan ka na, ‘You’re the best dancer among the whole cast,’ and alam mo sinabihan pa niya ako na, ‘Okay, if you have any plans to go to Australia, I will book you. I will give you jobs.’ Alam mo yung feeling na masabihan lang ako ng isang Jason Coleman, yun yung nasa isip ko na that’s enough and now I’m just waiting for a confirmation because siya yung may pinakamalaking dance school in Australia and I’m hoping na ma-approve yung scholarship ko sa kanya. I’m still waiting. I’m crossing my fingers,” he admits.
Thou says he is now seriously considering focusing on further improving his dancing skills because of his experience in The Kitchen Musical. “Kasi sobrang its not just about the dancing na. It’s about yung art ng dance and masarap yung nakikilala ka talaga ng isang tao na nandun sa field na yun,” he says. The Star Magic talent also admits that this opportunity can also be a start towards working on more international projects in the future. “Of course we’re all wishing for that na yun naman talaga yung goal ng bawat isa actor na maka-penetrate hindi lang sa Philippines kundi sa internationally. Heto na yung simula, we’ve touched Asia and we’re just doing our job na maayos at palagi nating pinapaayos yung trabaho natin so sana makilala pa tayo ng tuloy-tuloy. At makilala tayo sa talent natin bilang Pinoy,” he says.
