Jed Madela talks about possible collaborations with Erik Santos and venturing into theater acting.
In an interview with Push.com.ph, Jed Madela said that there’s no reason for him to feel threatened now that Erik Santos is part of Star Magic’s roster of talents. People may consider them rivals in the music scene, but Jed was quick to say that they’re good friends in real life. “Wala naman pinagbago kasi close naman kami nila Erik and Christian Bautista ever since they were in their respective record labels. Okay lang naman. Walang issue or problema with Erik getting into Star Magic.”
As a matter of fact, Jed believed that it’s actually an advantage to be in the same talent agency with his fellow singers. “When I heard the news, naisip ko masaya ‘to, mas marami kaming singers sa Star Magic. They’re not strangers anyway, mga kaibigan ko ‘to. Mas okay kasi we’re in one group na. Mas madali mag-collaborate at alam namin na yung concerns mas madali ma-address.”
Jed maintained, however, that he didn’t know about Erik’s decision until the latter was launched during the Star Magic ball last September. “Actually, wala kaming napagusapan about him transferring to another management or Star Magic. Pero kaming lahat, whenever we sit down and talk, we exchange ideas. Si Christian ang daming advice about God’s word, sobrang bait nun e. Si Erik naman we exchange ideas about singing and performing in the industry. We’re friends talaga.”
Both Christian (The West Side Story) and Erik (Little Mermaid) have ventured into theater acting. Asked if he’s also willing to pursue a career in acting, Jed said that he’s just waiting for the right project to come along. “Ako na lang sa champions na grupo namin ang wala sa theater. But I don’t want to get into a theatrical project just because everybody’s there. Given the right project, why not? Pero ‘di ko prine-pressure sarili ko. Mas gusto ko gumawa ng isang project na I feel would be helpful to my career at magiging mas okay ako na artist dun.”
