Janice de Belen says no to working with ex-husband John Estrada

101211-janice_main.jpgAlthough they’re now both working at ABS-CBN, Janice de Belen said that she’d rather not do a teleserye with ex-husband John Estrada. Not because she’s still bitter about their failed marriage, but out of respect for his wife Priscilla Meirelles. “Sabi nga [open siya to work with me]. But I don't like that burden to be on his wife. I do not want to ever make her feel uncomfortable, even if it's just because we are working together. Parang tama nang may nakaraan kami. Okay na tayo doon,” said Janice during a press visit on the set of Budoy last October 5.

Given their current situation, Janice knew that she and John working together again would only result to renewed controversies. “Alam mo, tama nang ganito na lang. I do not feel the need to work with him. At saka, I feel na it's better if we don't work together. It’s not personal. My take on that is should we work together again... Hindi naman kami best friends. You need to have a good working relationship. Kasi, kapag nag-work kami together, there's going to be so much hype, so much hope lang."

It was the same reason why she seemed aloof when they crossed paths during an ABS-CBN trade launch last month. “Ano naman dapat ko iimik? Wala na dapat ‘di ba? Luma na siyang issue e. There's no need for hype. Kapag nagkita kami, hindi na kailangan ng hype. May kanya-kanya na kaming buhay.

At the very least, Janice claimed that she and John are civil to each other, but they rarely meet at all. “You know, my kids are big already. So whatever needs to be talked about, sila na. They can tell their father what they want or what they need. Unless it’s something really important, saka na lang kami mag-uusap,” she added.
