Jericho Rosales says he has renewed energy to work

100211-echo_main.jpgJericho Rosales recently shared his experiences in the US when he took up acting lessons. The actor had intended to take up directing classes but changed it to acting instead. He said that he was advised by a friend that it would be better if he took acting classes over directing lessons. “I took Cinematography class dito under Raul Daza and ‘yung mga ginagawa ng mga film students don na nakasabay namin sa NYFA (New York Film Academy) halos parang-pareho rin sa ginawa namin sa cinematography,” he shared. “Plus I have experience sa taping, shooting sa lahat [so] mas na-excite ako na i-take ‘yung acting.”

Echo continued that he believes that honing his acting skills will be more beneficial as far as his career is concerned. “’Yung acting talaga for film I want to prepare myself lang for whatever [there is for me] in the future, let’s say [for instance] makapunta ako abroad, kahit saan sa States, sa Asia o kung saan man ako makakuha ng project ulit na bago, ‘di ba?” He added that as a professional actor, he needs to constantly be on his toes. He revealed that he still plans to study more in the future.

Jericho also made the most out of his break because apart from taking up acting lessons, he also took the opportunity to do shows abroad and shared the experience he had, having had to live independently for a short period. “Dalawang buwan akong nawala, but kalahati ng dalawang buwan, nagtrabaho ako don, nag-show ako sa Canada, so lagari muna [bukod sa pag-aaral]. Sarap kase mag-isa lang ako don, normal na buhay tapos basically nalaman ko ‘yung halaga, mas na-appreciate ko ‘yung halaga ng trabaho,” he explained. He continued that his life in the Philippines is far different from how he lived out of the country and related that he had a lot of realizations.

Jericho said that his short break also gave him renewed energy for his work when he came back. “Nakapag-recharge talaga ako. Now every script na matatanggap ko may excitement, may anticipation of good things and then may mapaglalaruan ako pagdating ko sa set. Parang natanggal ‘yung mga pangit sa akin pagdating sa trabaho. Basically it was for self-improvement.”

The actor is now preparing himself for his next teleserye, where he will share billing with Piolo Pascual and Christopher de Leon. The teleserye, titled Padre de Pamilya, will also star Maricar Reyes, Rafael Roselsl, and Denise Laurel.
