During a contract signing last August 19, Star Cinema introduced five-year-old Owie Boy Gapuz as the newest addition to the cast of Tanging Ina Part 3 which will be top-billed by Box Office Comedy Queen Ai-Ai de las Alas. Aside from doing commercials since he was two years old, Owie has also appeared in a movie. It was only when Malou Santos spotted an article about him in a newspaper did Star Cinema ask him to become part of Tanging Ina. He will be playing the role of Ai-Ai’s grandson from Canada.
Notably smart and confident for his age, Owie had no trouble sharing with ABS-CBN reporters how excited he is to be part of such a huge project. “I will be working with Tita Ai-Ai and Tita Eugene (Domingo). I’ve seen some of their movies before. I like it. It’s nice to be joining [this movie]. I already did some workshops. It was fun. We sing, cry, and act a lot. But it’s ok because I’ve always wanted to become an actor,” said Owie who is studying at the Chinese International School in The Fort, Taguig City.
Owie has always dreamed of working with the likes of Piolo Pascual, John Lloyd Cruz, and Anne Curtis. “People call me Piolo that’s why I’d like to work with him someday. Nanonood ako ng Noah pero kapag nakakakita po ako lagi ng bad guys tsini-change ko po yung channel.” Owie is also looking forward to collaborating with other child stars including Zaijan Jaranilla and Xyriel Manabat. In the meantime, he is currently one of the mainstays in the kiddie gag show, Goin Bulilit.
