Maricel Laxa-Pangilinan is excited to work with Toni Gonzaga in 'Kokey @ Ako'

<img align='left' src='' alt='' >Acting is not really a priority for Maricel Laxa-Pangalinan, but she agreed to take on the role of Toni Gonzaga’s missing mom in the fantaserye Kokey at Ako because her kids are such huge fans of the first TV adaptation of Kokey (2007). “I’ve been busy hosting shows in Lifestyle Network for three seasons already. Yung acting kasi hindi ko masyado ginagawa kasi gusto ko lagi akong present sa mga anak ko. Pero this time talagang pinilit nila ako na, ‘Mommy, please accept it!’ Excited silang mapanood nila ako sa TV na umaarte ulit,” said the ever devoted mom/TV personality whose last teleserye was Ysabella (2007-2008). She was really grateful for the chance to work with box office comedy director Wenn Deramas who’s also full of praises for the actress’s dramatic portrayal for the first few episodes of Kokey at Ako. “Hindi ko nga alam yung Kokey kasi hindi naman ako nakakapanood ng mga series. But they told me that it's a really nice show. Direk Wenn was the first director that I’ve worked with after I gave birth, after a long period of break from showbiz. Lagi lang kaming tawanan in between takes. But I know that he's really strict with his time kasi marami pa siyang ibang projects. Napakagaling at professional talaga siyang katrabaho. Since her character was immediately abducted by bad aliens at the beginning of the series, Maricel shared that she’s yet to tape her scenes with her grown-up daughter, Toni, in the story. As a matter of fact, it was her first time to meet the young actress/host during the grand press con of Kokey at Ako. When asked about her first impression of Toni, Maricel replied, “I find her the kind of person who knows what she wants and she does it really well, which is very good lalo na sa mga kabataan na sumusubaybay sa kanya. I think she has a long way to go as a multimedia artist.” Is she looking forward to doing scenes with Toni in the show? “Oo naman. Kasi crucial yung reunion scene ng characters naming mag-ina sa Kokey at Ako at yun ang dapat abangan ng mga viewers. Pero baka matagal-tagal pa yun. But you know I’m just happy to be part of the cast and do something fun and light despite the long working hours. So I just enjoy my time on the set and make the most out of the opportunity na makilala mo yung iba mong co-stars.”
