Melai Cantiveros admits she was scared of director Wenn Deramas

Aside from an appearance in the upcoming film I Do top-billed by Enchong Dee and Erich Gonzales, she also currently stars in the new teleserye Kokey @ Ako. Melai talked about her life in showbiz, 'Hanggang ngayon nga hindi pa rin ako makapaniwala na nandito na ako sa industriya. Dati kinakabahan talaga akong na mag-artista. Pero ngayon magaan na talaga ang loob ko.' In spite having starred in other TV shows like Precious Hearts Romances presents Impostor, Banana Split, an episode of Maalala Mo Kaya, and Wansapanataym: Inday Bote, the 22-year-old General Santos City native still considers herself a newbie actress. That'rsquo;s why when told that the director for Kokey @ Ako would be Wenn Deramas, she felt very nervous at first. 'Nung una kinabahan ako kasi ang sabi nila nakakatakot daw si Direk Wenn,' she said about the director of the comedy film Ang Tanging Ina. But after a few taping days Melai saw the professional and bubbly side of Direk Wenn. 'Madali kaming matapos sa eksena kasi magaling talaga si Direk Wenn. Idol ko na siya.' She also shared that she was very pleased when she received positive feedback from the director. 'May mga eksena ako na nasabihan niya ako, 'lsquo;Tama 'lsquo;yang ginagawa mo! I-pursue mo lang 'lsquo;yan! Nakakatawa 'lsquo;yang sinabi mo!'rsquo; Pinupuri naman niya ako kapag may nagustuhan siya na ginawa ko.' Good things like this inspire Melai to keep on working, but being busy these past months hasn'rsquo;t given her the chance to spend quality time with her family in GenSan. 'Miss ko rin 'lsquo;yung pamilya ko kasi dati kapag Pasko kami ang magkakasama. E pagkatapos ng PBB madalang ko na sila makasama. Huli kong uwi sa GenSan nung may Melason pa.' Melai hopes that this Christmas she would be given time to fly to GenSan and spend the Holidays with her family. But if work won'rsquo;t really permit her, she would just make her time productive. 'Gusto kong sana dun ako mag Pasko. Kung may time sana pero kung wala trabaho na lang. Work na lang nang work para may kita.'
