Robin Padilla confirms that he married Mariel Rodriguez in India last August

After evading the media'rsquo;s queries regarding the real status of their relationship, Robin Padilla finally revealed that he actually tied the knot with Mariel Rodriguez during their sudden trip to India last month. Robin, who'rsquo;s a Muslim convert, also confirmed that they had a Muslim wedding in honor of his religion.

When told that a lot of people were disappointed with them after being misled by their so-called "Ibaloi wedding" and their contradicting statements about it, Mariel went on to explain that they never said anything about getting married in Baguio City last September 13. "We did not come out with those information, with those photos...so we never lied. Robin just wanted to introduce me to his relatives, the Carino side. They wanted to show me a little culture, 'lsquo;yun talaga 'lsquo;yun. May war dance na naganap... Meron po bang kasal na may war dance?" You would recall that Jimmy Ong, an Ibaloi mambunong or native priest, confirmed in a previous interview with TV Patrol that he officiated the wedding ceremony for Mariel and Robin that day.

Although theirs was admittedly a whirlwind romance, Robin further shared that he courted Mariel before they became an official couple. They first met each other when Robin pinch-hit for Willie Revillame for two weeks in the now-defunct show, Wowowee, last May.

Asked if they are ready for the consequences of their actions especially in terms of how it will affect their showbiz career, Robin stressed that what he and Mariel did was all for the sake of love. In the meantime, they are still discussing their career plans with their respective managers.

On a final note, Robin hoped that peace, love, and happiness would still prevail instead of the constant criticisms that he and Mariel are receiving from some people. Let'rsquo;s make love not war," he maintained.
