Radio jocks Nicolehiyala and Christsuper are excited about bringing their 'Tambalang Balasubas at Balahura' to TV.
After becoming famous as the “Tambalang Balasubas at Balahura,” radio jocks Nicolehiyala and Christsuper are now ready to take their wacky tandem to television as the additional hosts of Music Uplate Live. Nicole and Chris will substitute for Yeng Constantino and Tutti Caringal for the early Saturday morning episodes. Chris described this newest hosting job as challenging. “Overwhelming at nakaka-tense. Hindi kasi kami sanay humarap sa camera. Usually kapag nagtatambalan kami ng dalawa lang.”
Although tense about crossing over to TV, Nicole is also excited that she and Chris can now showcase their comedic hosting style in a new medium. “Sa radio wala kaming pakialam kung kita na ang ngala-ngala namin. With Music Uplate Live we have to know na which camera to look at. Pero character na rin talaga namin ni Chris na we make people laugh so sa tingin namin carry naman ng powers namin ito.”
Chris added that he is hoping that with MUL, the Tambalang Balasubas at Balahura will have a bigger following like what happened in the almost seven years that he and Nicole have been working together on radio. “We are happy na ‘yung mga listeners namin sa radio, sinasabi nila na kahit tapos na silang makinig sa amin sa morning, e magpupuyat pa rin daw sila para panoorin kami sa Music Uplate. Because of the show, hopefully magkakaroon din kami ng mga bagong followers.”
As once-a-week hosts of MUL, Chris and Nicole aim to have the viewers, who are still up at past midnight, to participate in fun discussions on the program. “We ask questions sa mga Kapuyaters and they send in their answers. Like kung ano ‘yung pinakanakaka-lurkey nilang experience, or pinaka-shonga nilang moment. Music Uplate happens in real time so people can react instantly. We can interact with them,” said Nicole.
Nicole shared the story on how her tandem with Chris was born. “I was a traffic reporter and I would report during his program. One morning while doing a report, nasabi ko ‘Nakaka-tumbling naman ang traffic sa EDSA!’ and we laughed together. It was so good kaya the next day, nagdagdag pa kami ng more adlib, more time to laugh together, until our tandem became a full-blown program.”
What followed, according to Chris, were tons of positive feedback from listeners who claim they get a great laugh from Nicole and Chris’s banter. “May mga nagsabing parang first time nila ever na makarinig ng tandem na katulad ng sa amin. Nakakahawa daw kami kapag pinakinggan.”
Nicole admitted that in real life her personality is very much similar to her loud character that listeners love. However, Chris revealed that when not on board, he is really the quiet type. “I am the complete opposite of Christsuper. Maingay ako sa radyo pero the real me hindi masyado nagsasalita. Tahimik talaga ako, pero once I go on board I become my character, si Christsuper.”
